Givi lock barrels

  1. I am looking at purchasing a V47 in some flavour or another. Does anyone know if the lock barrels supplied with the bike will fit the Givi unit? It's no big deal but if it can't be done but would be an obvious plus to have it on the one key.

Ive been deliberating between to Ducati OE box and a Givi unit for sometime now, and after a bit of digging Ive concluded the following.
Why is it Givi insist on a plethora of reflectors and lights on all of their products. What is otherwise an excellent constructed piece of luggage seems somewhat over blinged at the rear! A more minimalist option should be available for the more disconcerting clientele.

The OE Ducati product is more in keeping with minimalist looks but the construction given the price seems far inferior to that of the Givi monokey units. Its almost sub par to even the monolock line.

Unsurprising that for the OE unit that the inhibiting factor is the cost. For around £100 less you can get any V47 , the nicer optional slim givi alu mounting rack and the excellent givi bag liner. Crazy.

  2. Hi mate I bought a v47 for my bike and took it apart to see if you could out the Ducati barrel in but it is slightly different at the end that connects it to the case. It's possible someone mechanically handy could fit it somehow but i didn't see the point.

    I bought from this guy

Ducati Multistrada 1200 Givi V47 Top Box & SR312 Fitting Kit Rosso Italian Red | eBay

lives three miles away so collected it. Nice helpful guy and very quick replies to questions. I got a back rest fitted as well by him and was 280 I think. Personally don't think it looks any worse than the Ducati one.

  3. Its ironic because the Ducati OEM boxes are made by Givi! I think Ducati charge a premium. The OEM backbox is huge and they do look nice on the strada though.

  4. Same guy I am dealing with now. Some cracking prices to be had if you approach him directly !

  5. I got mine from him as well.
About £325 inc shipping, bag and back rest.
It is big, but it does take two good sized lids...
And I agree if they made it any more bling it could go on the back of a Lead Wing!!

I ended up ordering these as my best compromise. Best match I could find for my 2013 matt chrome. £350 delivered, happy with that. Oddly they dont do the rack in black, though it can serve as a luggage rack for my kriega when the box is not justified.

Givi definitely need a design/style choice that sits somewhere between the current trekker and "road" monokey range. Its one extreme design to the other.
