I know that this is a very subjective question, but I would like to hear from owners who have this set up on their bike as I am trying to establish the db levels (although that is not that important to me) and general feeling of whether this would be abnoxious or acceptable in its noise levels. Currently I find with the standard set up I hear a loud enough but 'muffled' exhaust note. It is not a clear relaxed sound, and it effects the way I ride the bike since I cannot really feel what the engine is doing. This probably doesn't make any sense I know! It is almost like the bike has the level of sound needed, but it is saying I could be so much better if I could breath properly, the flip side is I might really anoy you on a long ride! I am particularly interested to hear peoples views on the level of noise under power rather than at standstill. Nearly all the You Tube clips tend to all be at standstill and in my opinion the tone of an exhaust often changes under final drive if that makes sense. I have seen the clip from Motivation where they utilise a db meter, but it doesn't really tell me that much, as I have no idea at what revs it is producing 101-103db, plus again it is at standstill. I am fully aware that the stubby Termi has no baffle (I wish it did!) and that effectively all the baffling is in the OEM cat. I am therefore aware that this set up will be significantly louder than stock. It is for this reason that I am considering the Leo Vince as opposed to the Mivvi due to its small baffle in the mid pipe. I am also trying to figure a way to fit the baffle from the full Termi system in the stubby Termi, but so far have not come up with any ideas that do not involve drilling holes in my brand new Termi that came with the bike. Plus have you seen how much they cost! To summarise, I had an RSV4 track bike with an Austin Racing exhaust on it, probably producing 110-115db, so louder than this set up is likely to be, but to me it was acceptable as the tone or note of the bike was not that harsh, more a deep burble. So I am not too worried by the actually db levels but the perception of people as to the tone from this set up in particular under final drive and whether it would start to hack you, as a rider, off on a long ride. Anyway any thoughts appreciated. Dave
I have a LV de-cat and original ex fitted, I must admit it is loud but on the open road fine. Is their on the market a end can that will reduce the noise slightly?
Hi, yes the Leo Vince end can to match the de-cat pipe has a baffle in the end and will bring the level to legal levels. However I prefer the look of the Termi can but it doesn't have the extra baffle like the Leo Vince, hence my thinking behind using the baffle from the full Termi system. Just there is no way to secure it without drilling the end can!
I run the LV end can with LV decat and find it hits the sweet spot with the cans baffle in for noise. The LV mid pipe makes a token gesture at baffling at best. You may have better options in baffling the mid pipe rather then the end can. Though obviously it comes at the cost of convenience. Yes had thought of that option but have read conflicting reports about power loss and other issues. I have no experience with it myself but from experience I know LV is a quality manufacturer so prefer that de cat. May have to resort to getting the LV end can and sell the Termi.
Having recently had some mapping done....Chris at CJS will map the LV with the baffle in (when paired with the mid pipe) as it apparently has no penalty on performance.
Hi I have just done this setup LV decat and termi stubby sound's lovely not that bad , as a ducati should sound. Had it re flashed at jhp Coventry what a difference can't recommend it enough. So smooth you can ri at 30mph in 6th if you want.
