Just bought this from fleabag , had an anxious wait for it to be shipped , it's not true what they say about scousers ,this one was genuine . The plan is to grasstrack it ,should be fun , but I haven't ridden off road since I was a nipper with a TS250. I used to have a std one of these back in the day ,and had forgotten how much more relaxed biking is at a sedate pace, and the good thing is people still turn there heads at it, bonus !
Thanks but the plan when I've raced it is to make it look more like this one , which I think is much nicer.
Nice , have to say I'm really into the tracker thing now , so simple , no battery total loss system, I've wired in an on off switch to kill engine but have to fit a cut out lanyard , removed all lights and soon to remove one disc and caliper for road use, then simple to remove the last caliper for racing. Need to fit chain/sprocket guard, something like a sharkfin and engine sump guard.
Not yet Brads , I've only ever raced in time trials on the road , but I thought I'd give a grasstrack race a go, they used to be raced here ages ago and have just announced one again to gauge interest. We do sandracing here but I cant be arsed with the havoc sand and salt water would play on the bike. I suppose a plus will be getting a feeling for the rear sliding , that's got to be good for road racing.
Check this out, wonder how much it weighs now! Way above my level but very clear what the guy did. Worth the 9 pages as its not finished until then end... DR650 Street Tracker Build - ADVrider
hi,smart looking bike but it needs to be on track have a look on the dtra website of facebook for some flattrack practice days,i race a xt500 good fun.
The Yam 650.......I remember the orange and black ones when they first appeared.......... Not exactly a grass track bike though, is it? AL
Admitted Al , I left the brakes on to run it in the motocross class , just as well I'd have been murdered by the sliders, and they'd of been pissed with me being a mobile chicane. However in my class (4 of us ) I was last in 3 of my 4 races but got a second in the last one , I've never had so much fun on a bike ever, in fact so much that I'm looking to borrow someones field and practice, if I can slide the rear and opposite lock to "slide round the corners I can blitz the crossers next year, they are racing and practicing on average once fortnight. And a great bonus was my son had a go and wants to do it as well, so a bit of daddy son bonding went down well. Ducati flat tracker anyone.
