You think we have problems lol

  1. how many miles have you done on your Multi?

  2. ST I'm not criticising the ride experience, that's why I bought the bike in the first place, and your missing my point, what I'm beginning to worry about is when, not if it's going to break something, which I shouldn't be on a bike of this price.
Have a look at all the niggling problems brought up on this forum alone, without all the serious problems e.g. heads.

  3. Me. Well worth.

  4. Do you have to buy it within the first 18 months of ownership? My dealer didn't offer it when I bought mine in April.

  5. Niggling problems I have had in five months and 8,000 miles ... er the front Skyhook accelerometer failed, replaced under warranty within a week. Bike still rideable anyway. Turned out it was a cable routing issue and the part hadn't failed. That's it. The bike has been faultless other than that. Hope things continue in that vein.

  6. Yes. Make sure it's entered in the computer database, and get them to give you a printout.

  7. I intend to keep mine until it is at least 9 years old (currently 3.5). It's had the shock ECU replaced, the cylinder heads replaced, a few main ECU updates, front brake pads replaced (still judder and squeal), rear pads replaced (still don't work), the heated hand grips wore out and a few other issues. Still can't think of a bike I "want" to replace it with?

  8. that'll be the 2014/15/16 Multistrada I bet. I see yours is a pre 2013 revamp model. Mine is post - and really sorted. We shall see ...

  9. No, the new MS is definitely not on my wish list (the dealer has tried hard enough!). Over 17k miles in and I am happy enough with mine even though it has had all the main problems? Mine runs sweet as a nut now, so barring some major (now out of warranty) and expensive failures, I will hang onto it. Got a potential '76 Suzi GT750 purchase on the horizon, which also muddies the waters a bit.

  10. I had one of those as a callow youth ... good luck getting it round the bends!

  11. Then perhaps you best sell up now before it's too late. No vehicle is perfect, regardless of price - to believe otherwise is naive at best, at worst downright delusional. Without doubt there have been a few issues with the heads - but in the grand scheme of the number of MTS's sold it is a miniscule percentage. Not every MTS on the road is a hand grenade with the pin out, waiting to detonate without warning.

However, in the unlikely event that I hit the problem, that would be the argument I would be using to negotiate with Ducati over the repair costs.

I treat my MTS just as I treated my GSA...if not worse. It's doing far better than the Ultimate Riding Machine managed. I did take out the 3rd year warranty. Didn't need it.

A little over 12k, although in the last 9 months I've probably managed a thousand miles at most due to other commitments.

  12. i agree with what you say - but 12,000 miles in what appears to be more than two years doesn't seem to be very many. I would expect to do at least that per year, so I hope the bike continues to deliver ...

  13. Absolutely, by MTS standards it's average at best, if not below. But by comparison it did far better than the BMW managed doing half the amount of work, and both bikes were out every day on commuting duty apart from when it snowed.

  14. 30K on a 10 plate GSA...only problem was a heated grip went pop, replaced under warranty. Just bought my first Multi, which after 750 miles in two weeks tick's all the right box's.

My only concern (using it 12 months of the year as a work tool as well) is will it stand up to the abuse.....time will tell I guess!!

  15. Doodle I know no vehicle is perfect, and I would imagine even Rolls Royce's break down, so I have no delusion there.
But the fact that you are already preparing your case against Ducati just goes to prove my point, that they do come with known problems.
I do find it slightly comical that any other bike manufacturer that produces bikes with known problems are pilloried but in a Ducati it's character and is one of the joys of owning one, or worse, justified, by saying that a n other manufacturer has a problem.

  16. Not really...if you knew me (and how my brain works) you'd understand why. The joys of "problem solving" for a living :upyeah:

  17. Bikers' definition of "character" = breaks down a lot.

  18. I have a June 10 so have also gone through some niggles but is now running better than ever and despite using a brand new GT and experiencing the Skyhook for a couple of thousand miles which was very good, I didn't have any problem jumping back onto mine. It has taken me all over Europe and never let me down apart from not starting due to flat battery (forgot to switch Optimate on). I like you, don't plan to change for a good while yet.

Off to Wales at the weekend with 4 Multis and one GS so will have some good debates

  19. Can I join Kirky please, can I, can I
What part of Wales you visiting Kirky ?

  20. I have a 2010 MY too, had a CJS remap, and loving it! Never let me down once!!
