im just not so quick to jump on the fan-boy luvee wagon as you are. hes good. but on that bike id expect nothing less
The reason Stoner left bike racing was because he didn't like all the PR stuff he had to do coupled with all the travelling. He says the reason he has packed in car racing is because he cant hack all the PR stuff he has to do. There is a theme here. The only way I can see he will come back to bike racing is if he runs his own team but then who would sponsor him for long if he wont do any promotional stuff? The earliest he can come back is 2015 by which time i suspect he will have been out of it too long anyway to make a meaningful comeback.
I thought the reason stoner left was because he's a miserable t**t. They should have a new class in gp's next year racing sofas then all us lot could have a go
It was interesting to see what happened yesterday to Pedders the moment he didn't have TC. Of course, he didn't know he didn't have it and had he known, he would probably have reacted accordingly and not fallen off. But you wonder what the racing would be like if there was no TC. I would imagine that the grids would be almost empty with everyone in hospital.
I don't think u would see many more crashes without TC the power delivery would have to be softened off and made smoother but I don't think it would be high side city. It hasn't caused many crashes in BSB. Pedrosa crash was unavoidable he's been trained to use that throttle like a light switch then he whacked it fully open not knowing the TC wasn't working this doesn't mean he couldn't ride without it.
That incident makes a mockery of those who say that Stoner didn't use traction control. They say with one breathe that he does no need it, then in the next that he's already lighting the touchpaper before finishing his corner entry. Well now you have clearly seen what happens to a bike with that sort of power and no TC. Stoner did use TC, more than most in fact - that was the ace up his sleeve. But are electronics worth having in Motogp? I can't and won't answer that. I've seen some bloody good racing this season, and I believe the rule changes for next year will liven things up still further, so I'm quite happy for it to be in place.
I've not read up on them thus far, but the works bikes lose a litre of fuel, whereas the CRTs get 24 litres (I think) and double the engines to play with. You'll also be getting customer engines from Yamaha and customer bikes from Honda (one of which Redding will be murdering). Watch Ducati drop to 12th/13th...

With well over 200bhp that really isn't too important. Rider size, however would make more of a difference, as witnessed by Redding's considerably lower straightline speed compared to his contemporaries. But how do you calculate for that?
it doesn't really though does it. just because DP whacked open a throttle expecting his TC to do its job in accordance to how it was set means nothing to whether stoner uses lots of TC or not. DP has never been anywhere near as wild and loose a rider as stoner. of course he (stoner) used some TC, but it's just been said he used the least of the grid as that's how he prefers to ride the bikes, hence his statement I presume. DP binned his bike because he'd already done that same corner a few times and knowing how precise these boys are he'd twisted the throttle the same each time, if his TC wasn't there it simply span up and threw him off. Riders with lower levels of TC would have: A: expected the same bike reaction each time at that corner and B: applied the power accordingly to promote slide or whatever they wanted to happen. again, just because Dani fell off it doesn't mean everybody else has to run TC settings the same, higher or lower, it's just the character of the bike changed within the space of a few feet and caught him out.
Every single gp rider in the last 6 year or more would have crashed in that situation no matter how much TC they use. And it not a championship to see who can go fastest with the least TC it's to see who's fastest using all the tools at their disposal
The point is they use the throttle like a light switch, because that's what they're used to. The whole point of traction control is you can be as hamfisted as you like, the electronics sort it out for you.
