I've been quoted £340 fitted including VAT as part of my service at P&H, this seems like a hue amount of money to me, is it a fair price or a Ducati price? I'm really unimpressed with the original ducati chain, it went rusty almost straight away... What make should I go for?
Blame Ducati for that one...specifying an unfinished Regina chain. The ones supplied to Joe Public have the gold plates.
So will I end up with the same shit again if the dealers supplies and fits it? How about the cost is that reasonable? (I'm in Istanbul working so I wanted to tell them to go ahead if the cost is OK as then I can pick the bike up next week when I get back)
I paid £80 for my RK sprocket & Regina Gold chain kit off e-bay, fitted it myself and it has been great.
For my SF was quoted £280 for stock or £285 for renthal quick change from Moto Rapido plus fitting Always worth asking another dealer
I'm with Banaman on this one, chain and sprocket kits are normally available around the £100 mark, I appreciate you can' fit it yourself if your away, but it's what, half an hours labour. You could leave it for now and shop around when your back, it doesn't have to be a main dealer to fit a chain.
I can't be certain, but I would reckon not. The dealer will get an equivalent spec chain from their usual suppliers, so likely the same stuff we can buy. Easy enough to ask them though. Cost seems a bit steep though.
DiD X chain now seen 25000 miles, chain is in great condition, sprockets a little worn, about £140 with sprockets ,what you were quoted is a piss take!
That quote for o/e c&s kit is the same one I got. Old thread on here covers the issue. I went with an ordered DID X ring and steel sprockets but ended up with an Afam Gold X ring with JT steel cogs for £250 from a race and rally shop via the web.
Rear sprockets 530 are an arm and a leg - I certainly had my trousers yanked down and given six of the best - about £280 for the set
Has anyone got any links where I can buy what I need? I'm not sure what size chain, sprockets ect that I need. I can get it fitted for about £70, or buy an AFAM and fitted for £295, not much difference, but the Ducati dealer now wants £365 for a Gold X-Ring DID chain. Do I need one of these as well? Billet sprocket carrier to fit Ducati Multistrada 1200 10-12 adaptor | eBay Or a link to previous threads?
108 link 530 chain as far as I know. I would just obtain all the hardware yourself and just pay for fitting. OE stuff is produced to maximize profit and provide basic function. That said, Ive not had any issue with rust on the OE chain. I will be going down the DiD / Sprox route when its due for a change though.
JJC Race and Rally is where I got my Afam chain and cogs from, but just looked on their site and it seems they've stopped doing bikes! I ordered a DID kit from them but got told they'd been withdrawn due to stretching issues so sent me the Afam stuff instead (which they said was more expensive) so covered the extra cost themselves. Most odd. Afam gold x-ring seems fine after a few thousand miles of fun so can't complain
