Headlamp Light Leakage?

  1. Ok, weird question time.

Had my bike 3.5 years and 18k miles, but only tonight riding home, noticed that the inside of my fairing is bathed in light, underneath the headlamp, just in front of the bottom yoke.

I have either not noticed before or did and forgot to follow it up? Never dismantled lights other than changed bulbs and can't see any "parts" missing?

Bike is a 2010. Is this normal or are my headlamps in the process of dismantling themselves? It seems very inefficient to be lighting up the fairing when the ahead lighting is so crap on standard halogens?

  2. Mines a year newer with 20000 on so will ride in the dark and see what mine are up to. Friends 59 plate tiger 1050 had the reflective coating fall off his headlight unit. He sent a long and fair letter to Stumph HQ with said light assembly. That was over a month ago and still no reply. Seems that his model has this as a common issue!

  3. Cheers Bud, look forward to seeing if yours is similar?

If it is, it seems a daft design to let light come out the back of the unit, I must say?
