Apparantly Audi has been opening het flood gates to get Dall'lgna - on, of the most succesful racing engineers and managers ever in racing - to head CORSE.. it is said that he refused a killer deal for not getting the free hand in sweeping the floor at Corse.. in dispair , Audi has now come back and has given him a blank cheque and all executive powers to adress the problem. if this is true, and he accepts, then that is the best news coming out of Corse for a loooooooong time...
The latest i heard was that Gigi had verbally said yes and that it should be confirmed in a week or so. In turn it appears to have soured the deal for Hayden to ride the Aspar Aprilia which Gigi was going to head the development of before a full Factory effort down the line. It's suggested up to 1/3 of the Ducati Corse engineers could be axed or re shuffled if he does come. Rumour has it Hayden now looks to be favouring a Production Honda with backing from Honda USA.
It would be pretty logical really to do this though wouldn't it. Think of another company that has an underpowered but brilliant handling V4 on the grid which is making a mockery of the overpowerful but shocking handling V4...... And they are both Italian. You would go and ask wouldn't you - after three seasons of banging your head against the same brick wall...... Imagine a beautiful, red, fantastically good handling V4 with Desmosedici power......made by an Italian firm......wouldn't that be nice to see again. Just need someone with some proper talent on it then..... Finally a breakthrough perhaps. I haven't seen any other light recently in the ducati racing department....
If those Hondas get the increased fuel level of the CRT machines, that could be a rather good little team
I never saw that coming.......could be what corse need. Maybe a few of the corse ppl are still thinking old skool but they need to be going forward (?).
