I know mate, shame as people are always welcome down for a chat, and mate I chat ALOT...lol tbh some days it's all I do....lol
hmmmm...i like to talk....do you make acceptable cups of tea? Arfur, PM me with a price for doin' me pipes x
Funky, take the pipes off yourself. Don't pay people silly money for doing easy jobs that same money could be spent on your new toy. If like you say you feel a tantrum coming on walk away put the kettle on and coming back to the same problem 15 minutes later is always the best way instead off getting mad and doing silly damage to your new weekend toy or toys. Plus think the same problem over in the 15 minute tea break. Good luck
Or....... get the grinder out & fast forward the whole task... Bike will sound great after too.... Just a thought.... Speedy, I think your calm measured reasoning may be lost on Funkyrimpler haha
Tried to send but inbox full. Hi mate, I charge XXX to polish the systems, they take me two days and is hard work, I'd recommend shopping around mate as i have read people getting much better deals! Or try yourself some tips and gear here at Polishing Kits | Polishing Mops | Polishing Shop | Polishing Kit a great winter project maybe.. Cheers mate. Arthur As for silly money well, you get in some cases what you pay for! I have proper polishing system, around 50 mops, 25 different soaps a 3HP machine and 25 years of experience. But like I said in my failed message give it a go mate.. Oh and speedy people definition of shiny varies......lol And easy jobs lol your killing me, let's see your efforts and I'll show you mine...
youre right there Hutch me old tater... i know its getting the better of me when i see my chest rising as i haul in another breath...i dont get any other warning signs...next thing im slamming a hammer into something...last week i kicked fekk out of my mountain bike AGAIN after more cross threaded and sheared bolts..slammed the fkn thing on the ground 20 or so times snapped the derailluer, bent the chain stays, seat was a twisted piece of metal.......i wouldnt mind, but it was a £2k fkn bike...good news is, brothers straightened the chain stays...i broke me wrist once punching my way through a stud wall..didnt even feel it for about 20 minutes....
How on earth do you get the pipes that shiny when they are so close together?.. I've had a go myself but after 2 hours lost the will to live & went inside for a beer & recorded bike racing... I struggled with getting inside the clips polished & the slim gap between the pipes.. Arthur.. You have my total respect, amazing work
Mmm, funky maybe your right get your local garage to do it....lol Hutch, ask speedy mate he seems to know an easy way....lol
oh, did a basil fawlty on an old mk1 golf gti once...with a baseball bat....cant remember why now....i probably dropped a screw or was trying to fit a stereo or somethin....then i drove it to the breakers...no windscreen, smashed being recognition....bloke came out of the portacabin,"ya not parkin that thee-ar"...after a few choice words from me, he scuttled back into his pisshut....i sauntered to the bus stop. i wasnt even on roids at the time either..that came later.
Bud? I'd stay away from the whole pipe removal thing haha... Too damn nice a bike to be on its side!!
did my 916 years ago and it looked/stills looks pukka...but as Bootsam so rightly sez, i dont fancy walking away looking like a Zulu. they are literally a mirror finish...ie, you can see the moon reflected in them at night.
Disturbing... He's grabbing a pipe & looks like he's on the gravy stroke.... I didnt want that late lunch anyway.. Jesus fuckin christ!!
Arthur I think you may have interpreted my message the wrong way, I was only trying to suggest to save some money for funky by taking his own pipes off and then maybe giving the pipes to yourself or someone else if he does not fancy doing them himself . Yes for sure the two pictures on the link of the pipes you polished for sure look fantastic and they look a brilliant job all-round. I was not implying the jobs are easy to do but more off a have a go yourself attitude . Yes I agree the pipes are a bitch to polish but unless you know a secret way then it's just time, polishing mobs / heads, autosol , superfine wire wool and lots and lots of time oh and a big helping of dedication.
No problem mate, and totally agree, hence why in my post I gave the link to the equipment needed to do them, as you say it's just time and effort and a basic understanding of how heat melts the soaps that suspends an abrasive compound. I was just being sarcastic mate... They are hard work and like I said am not a fan of the job at all but they are rewarding once done. Cheers. edit, if anyone wants any advice no problem and like I said shop around, speedy sorry if I sounded rude mate it's just such graft to do them to a high standard, I've seen many that are shiny but mirror is much harder and needs lots of prep before it even goes to the mops. I'm passionate about them that's my problem, when I think about them and the work I just think you know what are they really worth my time as the job costs around 200.00 per full system, that's two days labour, poly sander discs, running the compressor, running the polisher, mops, soaps, polish, protecting the carbon, risk of smashing one to bits and so on... it is well worth doing them for yourself as the pride in doing so is well worth time and sadly the winter is long...
