Best Bikes to buy as Investments?

  1. cool, where do you restorer dudes get the time.

  2. I'd look at a 916 sp3, 95 model rare as anything now and very hard to find a good one, in Germany I've seen one for sale at 18000€ with 6000 Klms, a worth while investment:upyeah:

  3. This ^^^^^, Superbikes are there to be used imho, not tucked away gathering dust.....

  4. Dave (op) how much were you looking to invest? Over what period? And what level of return would you be happy with?

  5. a brough supierior apparantly ....
    my wish list rd 500
    rg500
    916
    98 red white R1
or a R7 but they would be like rocking horse shit

  6. Honda Fireblade ('92/'93 round headlights style).
Yamaha R1 '98 red and white.
    Kawasaki ZXR750R.

No point in getting a 916SPS or SP3 as you will pay over the odds, therefore not an investment.

  7. I disagree "major", sp3 especially are rare and a worth while investment, an sps depending on model and year I think.
although I do agree with you on the fire blade and R1, they will now start becoming a worth while investment

  8. Or buy a shitty cheap flat and rent it out to council benefit dross. I'm still kicking myself for not buying a grotty flat in Margate when I had the opportunity. £31K with a rental value of about £350/month. That's a good return and better than any bike. The money went into my current place so I won't see any return until I sell and I've no plans to do that.

  9. I'm not. It was just an idle thought :)

  10. An old roundcase 750ss

  11. So you are suggesting, are you, that 750SS green frames are currently underpriced and likely to appreciate, thus making them a good investment? Is there any basis for that proposition?

  12. Pete, No I am not lol. I just like them lots and want to post pictures of them everywhere.

I have no basis for any proposition other than if i had plenty of money this would be on my list. Screw investments. Some things are worth more than money.

    Isnt she pretty?

  13. I agree, one of the best looking Ducatis ever. I sold mine before the prices shot up, so my bad. But this thread was supposed to be about good investments, i.e. underpriced and likely to appreciate, not just lovely bikes to spend money on.

  14. What is "underpriced"? Things sell for what people are prepared to pay for them. Any investor in anything does so on the hunch that people will be prepared to pay more for them in the future. There was a recent thread about people offloading Desmos because the 3 years were up and they'd be stuffed for massively expensive services in the future. The bikes are not cheap. But I'd still bet they will be worth a lot more in 10 years time.

  15. OK, I admit that when I said "currently underpriced and likely to appreciate" it was a pleonasm.

  16. I am surprised, nay flabbergasted, that someone of your education would adopt the hideous americanism "my bad" for "my mistake".

    The horror, the horror.
