waw... would be quit something... at least it will put that discussion to rest Pierobon knows how to make a frame and it could lead to better breathing of the engine
no but will take a clooose look... dream dream ... the SL in modern version, the Roche with Pierobon trellies frame as oldschool version.... as a rain bike... LOL !
Will look forward off the first review, ride with the trellis frame. think it's an better investment than the superleggera.
This is very interesting, I wonder if there going to make it into Production Bikes. It could be the way forward with the Panigale.
why on earth would they want to do that..................unless they know something as premier frame makers..
If you had an R model lets say from 888 SP4 through to 1098R, possible even the D16RR who'd fix the frame for you? Answer - Max Pierobon. So it's a pretty good bet he knows a thing or 2 about frames. Looks similar in design to the 1170RS that JHP have done for 1 of its customers. See here - http://www.1170rs.com/overview
TBH it's not the frame that's the problem here, it's that exhaust on the outside of the swing arm. ;0)
If that works (and there have also been spy shots of the WSB bike sporting a rear trellis subframe - so now seeing this perhaps it was actually a complete new frame front and rear), then that's the end of the Panigale format. You simply wouldn't retrofit them, you would abandon (a lot of the) concept, and go back to the earlier format but with the Panigale engine (also potentially made less stiff as not needed to be a stressed member of the bike frame). Wonder if those WSB pictures were actually of a steel rear trellis and actually masked a steel front trellis as well? If so, then the recent improvement in performance might be partly explained.....
nope, Ducati had to be pushed like mad to change the subframe to allow fuel out of the tank for some more air under it... no way they would allow Alstare to carry a trellies frame...
Here's the Pierobon frame just off the bench. See #7881  http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f18/so-what-have-you-done-today-494/index316.html
Since Laguna Seca...the trellis has allowed them to reposition the fuel tank, the MDF like piece under the seat
The Pierobon pic looks different. Has the wheelbase changed as it looks better but I cant put my finger on it?
Interesting.. Didnt Baiocco do that in BSB 2 weeks ago, moved the tank 25mm and the rearsets or seat 11mm, made a huge difference to the bike.
Im not being funny here....but is this a huge mistake for Ducati to potentially release a revised panigale with a trellis frame upgrade ?
