Not sure, I personally love them but I know they don't sell that well. i think the older 1100s/evo sold ok as that's more hooligan than the new one, but they're still flawed in some respects. personally I think I prefer the KTM supermoto as it's just a bigger bike and fits my 6ft 3 frame better, I test rode the 1100s hyper a few times and loved it but always came back thinking I simply looked far too big on it. would love a go on the new hyper as I think it might be better size wise but it has lost some of that oooommph and so I keep going back to the KTM vicious circle
you must have long legs, i'm 6'3 and find my 2010 evo sp fits me like a glove, had a monster before this to get me back into biking and i felt like a clown on a little circus bike, with the money i have now spent on this (and i know you should never say never) but i can't see myself getting rid of it, it does help that i hate the side exhausts of the new hypers
I did have a test ride of the 1100 evo. Crazy bike, loads of fun. great weekend bike, comfy. But didnt like the small petrol tank and the wind blast over 60 mph. If i had the money for a second bike it would be top of my list.
im not sure it's the legs thing, I'm quite broad and it just feels thin and a bit spindly I guess, when you sit on the SMR KTM it just feels like there's more bike underneath you if that makes sense. dunno, maybe it's just me. id still have one though, just a cheap one
I was loved the monster until I sat on a hypermotard (2011). I'm 6'1" and 17 stone and after beefing up the springs I absolutely love it. Only seen one other since I bought mine (different colour) and that was in la Rochelle.
See one other at bassetts pole meet on a Tuesday, a stock 796, never planned on getting one as I actually hated the look of the hypers until I actually saw one in the flesh, and then thought 'I must have one' they just look kind of angry and also I'm a sucker for mods.
I'd rather a Hyper than a Monster, the shotgun exhausts were better IMO. Id also rather be a hammer than a nail....Yes I would....
Nail on the head. My other bike is an RSV4. And to be honest - as amazing as it is (cant ever see myself getting rid of it) - the hyper is just as good in its own separate way....this is my theory on the subject: Ive always had sit up bikes til last year (been on bikes for 20 years) - TDR, z1000, 1100s, supermoto's etc etc...always wanted a bike with fairing. I had a really tricked up 1100s which i got rid of to get the RSV. Got the RSV last year and then thought....id really like another sit up bike....you always want what you havent got - for me at least. Talked the wife into letting me get the evo and now ive got the 2 styles of bikes i love....im happy - look at other bikes and think - "yeah - thats nice but im happy with what ive got...." - case in point...if i only had my rsv id really be looking at the ktm 1290 - seriously. But with my current 2 its nice but not that nice...
I have a 996 and did have a2011 gar 750 until I saw the hyper sp, I chopped the fixer and bought the sp and love it, it's so much fun and fills you with confidence def no regrets switching to the sp...always had sports bikes but since the sp I have to ask why does anyone need a race rep with 200bhp...the sp is FUN ok ok I know the racereps are fast and lush...my 996 fills that gap even though it's 13 years old and well short of the latest bop rockets anyway, as I drift of topic...I have seen a few hypersrada out so I don't think they are slow sellers or Un popular
Yeah i've not seen too many about. I'd love one though. The 1100 would be my kind of perfect road bike for all year use. Grunty motor to keep you entertained all weathers, nice long suspension for our shitty roads, great noise, style and not much to break should it all go wrong in winter. I want one bad.
I've had my sp for a year now, not seen another standard or sp on the roads but I don't get out much, I think the sp is a real head turner
Funny this has been bumped as I sat on the 821 sp today, love the look of it but it's just not big enough for me, or at least that's how it feels It's a weird seating position for me, literally feels like im on the tank and there's nothing underneath. The seat height is great, perhaps if I was a bit further back it wouldn't feel as bad.
I think once ridden you will get it. They are the best fun you can have on 2 wheels. Who cares if they are popular. It makes it a bit more exclusive. 110bhp is is about my limit of being able to ride bouncing off the limiter .
My sp gets more attention than my mates jap sports bikes, gsxr R1 Hyabusa etc, when parked up and it'll leave em behind through the twisties and hold it's own on the straighter bits (if you can hang on from the wind)
