Afternoon, anybody got a decent recommendation for an iphone or ipad mount so i can use the tom tom or navigon on my phone/pad rather buy another sat nav, ipad might work as it will be alot clearer ? Would also like to have the facility to charge it from the bike too....... your recommendations much appreciated.... p.s. Presume i will need to site it near the centre of the forks otherwise it may hamper the turning ......
For Ducati superbikes, these work well. I attach it to my steering damper Quick Release Handlebar Mount Attachment This case is tough as nails and has been all over europe and never failed Waterproof Tough Hard Mount Case For IPhone 5 5s Plus you can charge your phone as you go along Waterproof Micro USB Tough Case Adapter Cable
Easy I have SW Motech Evo bag, it takes iPad or PDA or whatever adapters, waterproof too. SW Motech Tank Bag Accessories
Wow imagine that, an iPad mounted on my Multi, now that would be the cherry on the cake, I could watch movies while chasing this sports bikes
Saw someone using an ipad in the car the other day for satnav. Hoping they never killed someone as it took up half the windscreen
Navihalter I use a Navihalter and bolted on a £2.00 adaptor, then added a Ultimate-Addons waterproof case and power supply. Not the cheapest solution, but most elegant IMHO, and works a treat.
I should add that the Ultimate hard case was confronted by the mother of all thunder storms in Bellegarde and I mean mother. I thought the rapture had begun and death was tapping me on the shoulder. Ive never ridden a bike in anything like it and I once rode a lambretta through that hurricane we had years ago. The case never let in a single molecule of moisture. Its very good.
I used the Ultimateaddons iPhone 4 case for a year and it is pretty good, although after a few hours in properly torrential rain, the iPhone was getting a tiny bit damp - that may have been condensation of course? Shame my 4 died in a pint of lager in Brussels and my backup 3 doesn't fit :-(
People would do that...lol Don't forget ram-mounts.co.uk do all kinds of mounts for iPads etc, often used in helicopters, ships, all sorts.. Some hardcore nav apps around for the iPad.
If you think about it, it isn't such a stupid idea really. You could use the iPad's rear camera so that you could see where you are going on the screen - you'd never need to look up at all, everything you need would be on the iPad. Brilliant!
