How to build a Ducati cafe racer

My little guzzi i built from bits . No ally tank but fun .

 

I built this one using one of those tanks....2 actually, but that is a long story...

 

It was originally a Multistrada with a bored and tuned motor that belonged to Mr Spalding of Sigma fame. I wouldn't recommend using a multi frame....lots of angle grinder work to remove rear sub frame which is welded as a whole.

 

Then I stripped the whole thing back down to get the frame powder coated and ended up with a more traditional colour scheme. It's not particularly expensive as a project if you start with a good bike in the first place...i have seen full exhaust systems cost more than this did.

 

Looks pretty cool, heck of a lot better than a lot of the cafe racers you see. How does it ride?

 

Very light and responsive. Quicker than my Hypermotard sp which i sold the cafe racer to buy. Terrible in traffic...gets very hot and temperamental, but delicious on fast ish A roads.

 

Having learned from the process, I am now considering doing another!

 

I designed and made my own fuel tank for the SS.
Well to be honest I didn’t design nothing!
I just sculpted it......
