So I have now started to invest some time into the 999r I picked up last month. I have so far sourced a 57mm system, Stm Evo clutch, quick shifter, and Carbon air tubes with plans to re flash the ecu in December when I get back from a work trip. I also have a 6'' rear wheel fitted which helps the handling a little. And a 749r tank for aesthetics / road riding. What should be my next move? I missed a few years of the 999 development and any good info would be great
Haha, good point.... I'm running myself in rather than the bike at the moment.. After having a 6 year break I'm trying not to go too OTT on the local roads.... Hopefully with this picture I can redeem myself a little... My old 999
I've got a 90kn spring to go in, I guess a fork revalve is also on the cards Any feedback on before and after?
Also what is a bit frustrating is that I have lost all my old set up data from the track time I did previously, so I'm starting again from scratch. I was hoping not to go down the, raise the rear, drop the front, and steep head angle, to get the bike turn in properly
I let these guys work their magic motorcycle spares, tuning, suspension accessories, suzuki Stage One fork and shock conversion. Handling is sublime, the front is so planted its untrue I can stick it where I want. Best money ever spent
Now your talking... Is the linkage and pushrod required? And is the shock the same/ damping setup? And if I change the caliper do I need a longer brake line?
linkage and pushrod.........the shock is the same length but the stroke is different because the rocker ratio is different, more linear........finding the bits these days are difficult. for the underslung calliper you do need a longer brake line to make it look right.
Cheers for the info Andyb, On my last bike the issue was more front end feel, or lack of it.. What will the linear travel do for me?
You'll need to fabricate something when you replace the std airtubes as these are integral to the fitment of the nosecone to the fairing uppers. Kopey on here hacked the coolant reservoir on the right and triangular stay from the left side from either his OEM set or got some spares, then he cable tied em to the new carbon set I recall, that kept the fairing fitting the same sort of way.
I have an under slung caliper, its only the mount hat different. I did use the original line Ducati Corse racing 749 999 cnc rearbrake caliper mount Bremszangenhalter | eBay
its more for a flat track and provides better consistant feel............if you are riding it on the road i wouldnt bother .....the roads are too bumpy
Q/A throttle mod is Yamaha R1 tube. £10-£15. Search on here. Lovely bike but needs a tail tidy/small plate
Anyone know where I can get a set of stand bobbins like these? The internet site on the picture doesn't work
