labour charge

  1. had my multistradas first service yesterday and on checking the invoice the hourly rate is £50.00. thankfully first service was free labour so not an issue.

is that about right or is that quite expensive??

  2. Pretty good tbh....lower end of the dealer labour rates. There's some that are quite a bit more, although location has quite a bearing on rates.

  3. some charge quite a bit more bloomin heck thought 50 was bad. oh well am i right in thinking that ducati have fixed pricing servicing?

  4. I think Ducati Preston charged me £55/hour last time I had something done which for a dealer I don't think is that far off or too bad considering my local back street car garage charge £48/hour.

  5. Plus vat...£60 ph is good compared to many others

  6. ...600 mile service imminent for my Multi. GT's Plymouth charged me £200 last time so I'm expecting the same again, I think it equates to £50 ph:mad:.....don't know anything about free labour, although I do remember a time when the first service was free for all bikes, some time ago tho:rolleyes:

  7. Ive found labour charges vary between the £55 upto £70, so that seems a good value. Its crappy when you think the mechanic working on your bike, with tools they have had to pay for, only gets paid £8-£10 per hour

  8. £50 an hour is cheap. Last time I went to Madame Cynthia's House of Pain it cost me £150 and I was only in there 3 minutes.

    (What can I say...I don't like pain)

  9. You should have mentioned Funky's name and you'd have got a discount.

Unless of course, you wanted to be overcharged so you felt more pain

  10. Camt imagine many mechanics on £8 per hour...more like double that...and they get paid if they work or not

  11. You're joking, right? Bike mechanics get peanuts, car mechanics ain't much better off. One of my mates owns a bike shop, and even he struggles to make a sensible wage. And this is Surrey I'm talking about.

  12. 40 hr week at £10 per hr is £400. Why would a trained and skilled mechanic/technician work for less than someone in a contact centre?!

  13. My brother was a mechanic and changed jobs because of the crap wages. I know a couple of other mechanics near me who get paid crap too.

  14. average wage around my way 8-13 an hour, piss poor, work shops are expensive things to run.

  15. Last time I was at Moto Rapido I was charged £48.00 per hour not including the VAT. I was reasonably happy with that as had been charged £56.00 when I had my Aprilia serviced and that was three years ago.
Just looked on Job Centre web site for my area no bike mechanic jobs but two for car mechanics and quoting £10/12 depending on experience. This is in Hampshire.
