Not for me - I prefer the plain look (Although I do love the look of magnesium at the moment!) So it really will be exactly as that pictured above just without headlights! Cannot wait - It will be a slow build though I believe!
A bit more progress - Loom, radiator, and exhaust gone! Not far off dropping the engine... And when removing the exhaust a bloody Twirl dropped out of the midpipe! No idea how long it has been in there, but a 5er to anyone who comes round and eats it
HELP NEEDED!! So desperately - kind of sick of this engine / swingarm pivot bolt now... I have been at it for days!! What can I do to get it out??
This is a common problem and I have got a few of these out now. You need to soak it in penetrating oil and work on it over a period of time, it took me a week once to get one out! Using an SDS or hammer drill against a suitable block can help to push it out. Also try a socket of the correct size to beat against the nut on the offside of the frame. Once they move then they do come out quite quickly. Ducati never lubricated these bolts from new they relied on poor plating to protect the spindle.
Spread frame with bottle jack/ car jack 5mm. Cut swingarm bolt with hacksaw blade. No damage to frame, bolt is fucked anyway. New bolts new bearings, grease well and reassemble
Where is best to cut the bolt? on the LHS between the frame and Swingarm or elsewhere? Think I may need to go this route! Hacksaw allows me to vent my anger for the bolt also Awesome! Thank you!!
Careful, careful with ordering that screen! Skidmarx do two, if you order the one from that link you won't get the Corse rep one, you get a "Bayless rep". Mike (Cranker) kindly pointed me to Skidmarx for mine. Phone and ask for Chris and specifically tell them it's Corse one you want. If he's still unsure tell him it's same as recently supplied to Gary in Swindon. Pic of mine below, mine has a 5% dark tint.
Ok, I give up - anyone in the Cheshire area fancy coming and doing thisfor me forĀ£20 and the twirl I found inmy midpipe!??
There was thread on the same problem of removing the pivot bolt earlier this year. I think he ending up cutting the bolt after spreading the frame....and destroyed a brick wall pillar in the process. I'll see if i can find it.
Awesome read - wow he makes cutting it out look so easy!! I am going to have a go with a blowtorch tomorrow but if it doesn't work I think this is the route I shall take with the help of Cranker! As I have no idea what I am doing
