Hi Just wondering if anyone has owned both or at least ridden them long enough to have a fair comparison. I currently have a 2010 Multi which is a great bike but it just has something missing, when I walk away from it I seldom turn round to give it that last glance. When I got it my head ruled my heart as I intended to use it for a daily commuter but I managed to keep my old 1150rt which I use all year round. I've always kept my main bike immaculate so don't relish taking the Multi out when it's slinging it down especially when I don't have to. Is the Streetfighter a good bike for a weekend toy with the odd bit of commuting and annual Ring trip thrown in. Used to have a 1050 triple which was a great bike bar a little down on power in my opinion plus even at 80-90 I found the wind blast tiring. Have ridden a mates Z1000 and that was comfortable up to the ton for a stretch between petrol stops. Cheers for any responses in advance
I've never owned a Multi, but I highly recommend the SF. It may not be to everyone's taste, but I think it's a great looking bike. It's also great to ride, I find it very comfortable and I'm 6'1". Wind blast is fine under 100mph, over that you start to gradually notice it.
i havent owned or ridden either machines, but based purely on looks and other peoples comments, it has to be the streetfighter!
Robarano, now if I parked that up I know I would spend five minutes just looking at it. Bradders can't afford the new KTM and I prefer the look of the Duc. The Beast looked great in the promo but has lost some of its edge with the addition of the road gear where I think the Duc hasn't. Would hopefully look for a simple swop if I changed bikes even a white one.
The street fighters are brilliant bikes imo, they have flaws but nothing you can't fix relatively easily nowadays as there's so much mod information on them.
Rode mine to Italy & back - again not until 80/90 plus for long period on motorway then arms feel it comfy as for a short ass like me I luff mine
Thats why I wouldn't have one. Love the look (esp Chars ) and aggressive nature but also hate cruising at sub 85 on anything never mid a mway
Very different riding positions. Both great bikes. I can ride my Multi all day, I couldn't do that on a Streetfighter.
There really is something great about the Streetfighter, but yep as Johnv says, its no all dayer. I'm just about to buy an 56 plate Monster and I'm really worried that when I had the choice, I'll pick that set of keys up rather than my 1098s
You will ! I have 2 other sports bikes in the garage, but jump onto the Streetfighter on most occasions.
I have an 848 and a 1200 Tenere. I think its a bit odd to have two bikes which are similar ( your multi & the gs ). So, why not keep the big traillie as an all weather do it all hack and the s'fighter as a fun bike with all the jazz of a sportsbike but without the hunched seating position. No brainer imo, get the s'fighter. Id loke to own one at some stage.
i read somewhere that a streetfighter isnt a streetfight unless youve built it yourself....i'd say thats true..unless its a ducati.
Own a 2013 Mutley and a 848 street fighter, as a weekend back road burner up here in Scotland the 848 takes some beating especially with 14t front sprocket. I've owned a 2011 and 2013 Mutley and despite the hype IMHO the 2013 model suffers from the same windscreen issues as the 2011 model, I like it with a short screen, but the best bit is the new engine you'd barely realise it's a Duke. Can't comment on the Skyhook as own the abs model. Currently I can afford both bikes but if I was forced to choose it'd be the Mutley
Technically a Streetfighter isn't a Streetfighter unless it started life out as a perfectly decent Sportsbike that was crashed, and the owner didn't have the money for a proper repair
They should have named it the StreetMonster Things would have been so different But I quite like the way some ducatisti turn their noses up at it
My shed for work is an old RT(Big barn door fairing) and not a GS. Personally I see the Multi as a big supermoto with a large dose of practicality added as opposed to a GS copy. Had a GS many years ago and was happy to ride it in all weathers even though the paint flaked off the engine and front telelever. I've managed to keep the Multi in good nick and can't be arsed to use it in all weathers nowadays. I take your point about having similar bikes but I have a 2004 zx10 which from what I've read is close to the streetfighter experience bar the fairing, both put a lot of weight on the wrists. However I still think part of bike ownership is just looking at it after a ride which you'd certainly get with the streetfighter but I don't get with the Multi. Managed to get out on it yesterday and it is a great real world bike. Only saving grace is its to late in the year to sell it so I've plenty of thinking time till March so I can change my mind yet again and buy a 999 instead and trackday it. I did send a couple of emails to dealers re part ex'ing it against a secondhand streetfighter but as yet haven't received any responses.
They are awesome bikes. I switched over to a 1098 SF after a street triple. At first it felt clumsy and uncomfortable at low speed but then I switched to some Rizoma bars and it's pretty much perfect now. Have a read on here and Ducati ms and there are loads of threads on worthwhile stuff to do. Here is a crappy pic of mine half way through some mods
