Mouse (computer type) problems

  1. Left mouse click is sending a double click.

If I click on a single tab to close it down it closes down two tabs. If I click on a link it often clicks on what is also on the page it opens. Folder Options are set to double click to open an item.

It happens with both corded and cordless mice. It is weird and driving me crazy.

    Anybody have any ideas ?

  2. Tried most of that already without success.

I have been putting off doing a complete reinstall of windows for some time. Maybe I just need to set aside some time and get on with it. Running msconfig has so many items in Services and Start Up and I have no idea what half of them do !

  3. Sounds odd that you have these issues. Maybe you updated somewhere recently. Can you go back to a restore point before it started to happen? ( Start / All programmes, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore )

Folders issue: Start, Cntrl Panel, Appearance & Themes / Folder options - you can also adjust mouse settings here

Tabs issue: just go into the Tools, Internet options, Advance, Reset ( not advanced reset )

    What operating system you on?

No need for a full reinstall imo.

  4. Buy a mac, they're doing an offer at the mo where you get a free roll neck and a latte.

Oh and the OS is free.

  5. Thanks for the input.

    Win7 64 bit

I had already been in to the Folders and Mouse settings

I have now Reset IE10 and so far I have not been able to reproduce the problem, although the problem did seem to be intermittent.

    Fingers crossed.

  6. are you running a standard mouse?

Some manufacturer specific driver control panels might cause a conflict.

Might be worth a look in the MSCONFIG to see if anything is running at startup that shouldn't be.

  7. do what i do, pay some one.i hate computers.

  8. restart in safe mode and see if it does the same.

If it doesn't, go into msconfig and switch them on one by one. have you uninstalled anything recently?

It's well worth doing a clean install once in a while anyway - so this might be actually a really good prompt to do it.
