What concerns me is that the judge is only considering imprisonment - remarkable BBC News - Man admits RAF Bomber Command Memorial graffiti scrawl
Yeah but is it 44 convictions for petty child shoplifting or stupid adolescence. Like we all did...mostly. You know silly shit that some daft but harmless kids can get themselves into. Its hard to tell without knowing more. Some kids are problems. But they're harmless silly problems which no-one responsible and stepped up to help. Theres more kids like this than there are the nut jobs. The headline seems a bit daily mail to me.
Thats very true fin but generally they just dish out the penalty and fail on the support. Then it starts all over again. Help em when they're young.
Maybe we should just pre-empt the daily mail and sanction the return of public flogging. Then we will throw him back on the streets alone and wonder why he commits the same crime. Time and time again. Someone will mention national service and all hell will break loose.
give him a job in workshop that il learn him. less expensive than the jail to. possibily reduce my laber costs to, sorted, when can he start.
The like is for your last point as maturity comes late to some. Its such a waste. Look after the young and you look after the rest. It isn't rocket sociology.
But wasn't he turned down by the forces because of his record? Smith, who has 44 previous convictions, mainly for shoplifting, had applied for a job in the Army but was not selected "because of his convictions as a young boy".
is he as bad as the high level thieves such as bankers and stock market traders or pension underwriters who go unpunished and seem relatively untouchable for losing people thousands upon thousands
But it's not harmless. Twerps like this are making life an absolute misery for decent hardworking people all across the country, feckless anti-social behaviour and petty crime is costing this country a bloody fortune in increased insurance premiums and benefits to support these little sods whilst they supplement their free income with the proceeds of crime. Locking them up does no good at all, they see prison as a badge of honour and leave with even more criminal experience and skills. The answer? I think it's really basic, literacy and numeracy is the answer (two thirds of inmates can't read or write!), these young people feel they are excluded as when they leave primary school they can't read or write, their parents are the same so there's no parental support, you have to give these kids a passport out of what is an aimless existence, I think education is the answer, get them reading and writing and then out of mainstream education early and teach them a proper trade.
