Some of you are probably (painfully) aware my bike started life as a 'umble 748, 18 months or so ago I embarked upon a mind fucking (well for me) project to fit a 1098 engine. Looooooong story short, I did this (with therapy) but kept the 748 ecu (new chip), loom, coils and so on. Bike has been ok with this set up, but never quite right in the fueling and starting departments. So I decided I kind of had a couple of choices; a) take her to a well know Ducati tuner and have a custom map written. b) gut the bitch and fit 1098 innards. I went for b) mostly because I believe I got more for my money, I'm not trying to squeeze the very last pony from the bike, I just want it to start and run right. Also after the Mondeo incident I fitted 1098 rear end to the bike, this left no room for the 16M ecu, it has since been wedged under the fairing between to water pipes! Few pics. You have to make a bracket for the new LCD screen as the mounting holes are different....Yes it's a funny shape for a reason... I chopped a piece from my recycling bin and covered in sticky back plastic, On bike; Doesn't need to be too fussy as it's mostly hidden. You also need to fit a new loom and move all the battery crap from right to left. Speed sensor bracket, not finished yet, but works! The good news it it all appears to work (touch my own wood!:biggrin Not ridden her in anger yet, but she fires on the button and idles nice and steady. Big thanks to ChrisW for the ecu flash Roll on some sunshine!
Hi, yeah...I'm musing over this later on. The carrier has the facility for the speed sensor I believe.
if you use a 1198 swing arm disc and carrier set up it has one too…………plus its a proper length arm……..ttx shock, r+t rocker blah blah...
