Paddock rumours say Burgess will be replaced by Aligi Deganello, - ex Marco Simoncelli/Gresini crew chief and more recently with Biaggi/Aprilia WSBK Valentino, un talento sotto i riflettori. C’è anche Deganello (ex capotecnico del Sic) per il dopo Burgess « pu24.it
I think you are right. Am sure Rossi believed the "80seconds" comment JB moved before he signed for Ducati. Anyway, I am surprised at the split. All you read in the first 50 pages of Rossis book is how it's all about the rider and not about the bike........ So he says anyway.
I'll wait to see what the results bring next season...and also wait to see what Jeremy Burgess himself has to say. I can't imagine Rossi being in any better position with any other team boss, but who knows, maybe it's just a motivational thing. You know how much them Aussies whinge...
It probably was when he wrote the book. Now you can be the best in the world but unless the man with the laptop gets it right it means squat. As Casey Stoner said constantly, "We won the race" because now more than ever it's true. Still think the goal posts have moved though and Rossi isn't the striker he was. I would be happy if he proves me wrong though.
Sad to see but Jerry had been through a lot with his Wife and was probably looking towards retirement so maybe it was just a good time..... He has certainly been amazing in the past with Rossi and Doohan particularly but every good thing ends eventually.....
I just think its sad. It could have been dealt with in a much different way, the season is over in a couple of days and to tell JB about it just now seems a little selfish. Rossi only made the decision 5 days ago so why not have the discussion after the final race and away from the media so a transition could happen post season and JB could get his shit together away from the circus that's now likely to flock to him in Valencia. its putting JB in an awkward situation for no apparent reason IMO , it's almost forcing his hand to retire when he might not fancy it just yet (although with his wife in Oz I wouldn't blame him) anyway another good write up here about it Valentino Rossi Splits With Jeremy Burgess, Seeks New Crew Chief | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks
I'll wait til Burgess speaks. I can't see a change of crew chief making much of a difference to Rossi's results, to be honest.
Me neither, not only that it's also going to be hard to actually monitor what made the difference. For instance IF he moves up the field in 2014 how will we know it's not the new bike? Equally if he goes back will he blame the bike or blame not having JB around? it just seems a bit bonkers to me. What do they point towards to account for the few 100th seconds in either direction he either makes up or drops? It could be all manner of things, but the one constant will be Jorge, and if he's still faster then what? Blame yamaha and look for a ride with Suzuki or Aprilia?
sometimes a change at the top works people keep saying he gets slower with age and I agree to a point with some sports obviously more than others. but there are exceptions to every rule
come on Phil, JL has beaten VR since 2010. JL has been at the top of his game since then. Then MM came along, sort of resets the standard and almost demodes JL and DP and now has JL riding like he never rode before. VR has been out of the WC game since 2010 and now it's Burgess that s not good enough? and another crewchief will make VR fly over the other three? if he would , that crewchief will be able to ask all he wants...
I read it as a good thing to happen, I don't like the way it has come about, it shows a complete lack of respect towards JB, but as I see it Rossi would not have had anywhere near the success he has enjoyed without JB with JB's departure Rossi will quickly disapear, good riddance, maybe if he's lucky Rossi may become Colin Edwards team mate at the rear, never liked him he won't be missed
VR is working hard on the post racing period. He just wants to go on a high note . The fleet of 1000r s coming up all are capable of making him finish on ducati style of places . There is a great threat of not making 4th.. I really feel for JB as he vpuld easily announced his retirement abd gone out abd joined the other legends. Now he s beig dismissed at the all time low of his carrier as being not good enough . This at the hand of the one he has brought most .. Major PR mistake from VR as it makes him ruthless, selfish unloyal and fake in his nicety .. Sorry spectacle
Would rossi win the final race if he was to ride Lorenzos bike? I very much doubt it. Lorenzo's proved the bikes capable, this I fear, is whats eating Rossi and someone has to take the blame.
True Phill, true, but the point I make is, the bike is capable. Does Rossi feel Burgess is to blame? I remember Rossi and Lorenzo having a fall out, when Rossi was winning, because he wanted the wall between them so Lorenzo could not see his set up tweeks. Boot foot other? Arse back bite come back?
^ As I remember Rossi even wanted it in his contract that he did have to share a garage with Lorenzo, definitely a case of humble pie awaiting now, I would say.
ive no doubt rossis lost a 1/10th with age. but equally could it be that burgess has also lost a few 1/10ths with age with the abiliy to make fast accurate decisions. after all the guy is 60. in my work place there arent many 60 year olds who are as quick on their feet to think as some young guns or prepared to put themselves through the mill to learn new tricks
