Hey lads and lasses, Jay from Kerry on the southwestern coast of Ireland. Currently ride an 08 990 Superduke and an RS250 'Priller. Have a buyer for my 'duke at the wknd and am seriously considering a 1100 'fighter. Looks like a cool forum!
Welcome mate, think I recognise you from the ktm forum, didn't want to go the RC8 route then? the Streetfighters are good bikes, pegs and stuff will need sorting but you'll figure that out on the test ride, the US forum has loads of info on mods ands upgrades. not trying to get rid of you, just saying there's a huge history of mod threads on there
Hey nuddy, ya i'm Jay-46 on the ktm forum, havent decided yet gonna go see a streetfighter tomorrow close to me in Ireland and ride it. Gonna get a blast off an RC8 again too. I'll be gutted to flog the 'duke and find I hate what I bought lol
Cheers guys. Oil change and new Bridgestone T30s fitted so ready to roll. Now for a half decent dry day!
The fighter is an excellent choice got one myself, had it just over a year now, fitted Michelin road pilot 3s to mine 180/55 rather than the standard 180/60s that come with the bike, goes round corners like its on rails
Cheers Vince, I went with the 190-55 rear as that was already fitted. I'm a big fan of the new T30s from my last superduke. Great all weather tire for our four seasons in one country
Yeah you get a tough time of it out there, I am mainly a fair weather rider but do get out during the winter as long as the roads are dry
Just a thought the 190 might play havoc with the traction control!! I have the 848 SF it was shipped with 180/60 as standard didnt matter how far I leant it I could not scrub the last 5mm of shiny stuff off the tyres from the edge and I think the 190's might be the same
Yep looking out the window every morning this week hoping its dry but not yet! And there's no way i'm taking it out on spanky new tires in the pissing rain!
I'll be giving it my best shot anyway Vince  No T/C on my base 1098 so no issues there. The T30s arent too rounded a profile so shouldnt be too hard I reckon, the Z8s on another superduke I had were impossible though!
how do. i know someone with a wee campsite just of the south west coast of Ireland, he tells me the weathers always good down there. true?
No he's a lying bastard.. Its the mildest part of the country temp wise but also one of the highest for rainfall. Scenery is stunning though.....
