Welcome to Gigi dall'igna and Cal Crutchlow

  1. So what should we expect from these two?

  2. What we expect and what we get will be two very different things

  3. You mean Cal will start winning races?

  4. We should expect nothing.

    Then we won't be disappointed.

We should hope to be agreeably surprised.

But it's not going to happen overnight. The Ducati is currently nowhere. Turning that around is going to take many months of hard work - assuming they know what they are meant to be working on.

  8. Maybe it's Tech3 bike with Ducati logos on it :upyeah:

  9. " For the moment it is too early to pass judgment, especially on the track, because we really did a few laps. I must say that I found the factory staff really amazing, the boys very well prepared and I believe that we can bring Ducati in the positions that it deserves , "said Dall'Igna . " Surely it is a major challenge for me, so I want to bring all really mettercela this brand to the level it deserves. I think it's more difficult than the ones I have faced in the past, partly because the MotoGP is the only category in which I fail to bring home a major achievement. But this is extra motivation, that will allow me to work harder and push the guys who work with me to do the same , "he added.

  10. Well now.....in testing today Cal has gone faster on the Duc than he did in yesterdays race

  11. I hope that's a positive, as Cal didnt last long in the race and up to the point when he fell of Lorenzo was holding the pack up.

  12. this is going to be a fragile period likely to end in a expolsion of bad feelings and blame culture because without a radical rebuild this shed will go further back with Cal on board

  13. He thinking 'at least this is better than the dole queue'
Come on guys he's not healthy, the bike is a pig with no front end feel, but he British, he never gives up and he's riding the most advanced Ducati in the world. Whats not to like? 2014 will be a learning curve for both Cal and Gigi, I for one will be cheering them from the Ducati stand at next years MotoGP...which reminds me, much get a ticket :)

  14. Harsh, but fair

Hopefully a lot better and we can eat our words.

  15. Good to see Cal on the factory bike to be honest, I don't give a monkeys where he comes as long as he's top Ducati, you can bet your money on him having enough grit to accomplish that at least.

itll come good eventually and at least there's no pressure on him, I'll be supporting him whatever the weather same as I will redding.

Anyway, who's that bloke with the beard cuddling Cal........ Looks a bit dodgy to me

  16. dall'igna's been talking to the Italian press..

Today here in Valencia the first press conference of Gigi Dall'Igna , new General Manager of Ducati Corse. The former Aprilia talked about the new experience started today ( there was the first shake-down -2014 ) , who sees in the shoes of the one who will have to " resurrect " the Borgo Panigale . Dall'Igna has not escaped the questions of the Italian press , but responded with determination and conviction .

"Today is a very special day , from the first General Manager of Ducati Corse. It ' a radical change in my career. I thank Ducati and the managament of Audi for the trust you have given me . The Ducati is complicated by two seasons and there is a lot of work to do. I am heartened to have found a home and a staff truly live up to high standards, especially technical . These people will help me to do what it takes to bring Ducati to the level it deserves even in sporting competitions , not only that but also MotoGP Superbike . It will be important to unify the working philosophies of these two areas and to transfer when good from MotoGP to Superbike . As the first part of the structure needs to be redesigned because I found two quite separate areas , the track and the house, so first we need to reconnect these two areas and the only way to do that is to give an important role on the track to the people at home and vice versa . The fact that I will be on the track will definitely help . "

It is therefore to re-establish ?
" If and when I realize that you will need and will need to make a new bike , Ducati obviously will have the ability to do that and we will. I can say that we will start next year with a different bike , of course it will not have what I consider a motorcycle must have in order to win , because it is the fruit of others, but will debut in Sepang. In the meantime, I will understand how it is made and if it's changed before Sepang, to introduce some further editing. I can say I found a property to house very competent and this gives me hope . "

    What is biggest problem ?

" As I said at the organizational level , I have not found the right connection between your home and the track. This means that the development that are made at home are not tested on the track and when they get them on the track, at home you think then that have not been tested properly. This obviously must be put in place and therefore no need for a reorganization. "

How long will it take to make a new bike?
" I would have been able to answer with precision before, where I worked (Aprilia ) , a structure that had helped to create. Here is more difficult to be able to say it now , I think something more than six months from the time when we think of a concept of motion different from what is there now . "

How long will it take to get back to winning ?
"It improved communication between those who work and those who work at home on the track. On the technical side I found a valid structure both in terms of electronics, engine and chassis . Long-term programs is always difficult to do it, first I have to know the company . I just try to solve a problem and I think it is an important aspect. To go back to being reasonably competitive it will take between two and three years, then you can think about winning . "

Do you find yourself two drivers who have not chosen , what do you think?
" Andrea ( Dovizioso , ed) is a person who I chased it all, but my career. On him I have no doubt , is a rider who I respect very much . As far as I know less Crutchlow , has a history quite different from mine , I found myself in front of only one year. It seems , however, grew a lot, especially in the last year , so I'm positive . "
You will bring your other men both at technical level of pilots (meter ) ?
"I know some of the people who have worked in Ducati Corse. I have to consider that there are better ones . The first impression was very positive . "

When it comes to Ducati is also believed to Audi , will draw from their Know-How ?
"Audi is a technology giant , so it would be stupid not to draw on their expertise , but you have to be smart enough to figure out what to take. "

How will the sports management ?
" Paul Ciabatti addition to being MotoGP project manager will also be sporting director and also I will not be alone General Manager, but I am also the technical director. So there will be major changes that will affect not only the MotoGP but also the Superbike . Their interconnection must be more comprehensive. "

    You'll also have a Ducati "Open" ?
" Yes, we'll have one in the Team Pramac , is an important project because it is the new direction of MotoGP. "
Aprilia and Ducati are very different , they have opposing philosophies . Ducati Desmo will be available to leave , tower, or other if it will help to return to competitive ?
" Without going into detail trecnico believe that Ducati will do what you need to win and if needed will make these cambianenti . "

How come you left the Aprilia ?
" The only league where I did not win , and where I have not had a chance to win was the MotoGP . At Ducati, I was offered this opportunity and I took it.

  17. Cal probably thinking about Gigi, thinking, "ve heard of monoposto mate, but that monobrow is taking the piss"...

As has been said, there really is little pressure on Cal in 2014..if he comes in the usual 8ths, 9ths, and 10ths, than he's not better or worse than anyone else...
For a gp he's a big lad, so that might help him hustle the pig around the track...Interesting that he's posted quicker lap times, but it's too early to start adjusting our underpants just yet....Marquez probably hasn't had housekeeping change his bed linen yet, but let's keep our fingers crossed, and look forward to Cal's inevitable pseudo Italian accent.

  18. Iz a gud byke yes?
