My choices 1) Cadwell (although be prepared for some quite agrressive counter-steering). What someone else said about country roads 2) Anglesey (although it is modern track, so lots of slow hairpins. and it's down a farm track. And a long way from anywhere). 3) Mallory (if it gets going again). It's hugely underrated. I was surprised how god it was to race at. I have alwasy liked it as a trackday circuit as it's cheap andhandy to get to. very limited facilities though. 4) Croft - rough as *rseholes (it gouged my knee-sliders, overbanding and dandelions on the racing line, overflwoing portaloos on day 2 of a race meet). Very hard to get a trackday there, and I've only raced there, but it's fast and flowing. Circuits I'd avoid (my opinions) Rockingham - soulless and flat, and depending on layout you get the odd bits going on and off the oval Castle Combe - a car circuit with huge catch fences, traffic lights not marshalls, and no logic to the hairpins. And only about 3 bikes allowed out at once. Now, how do we go about organising a trackday on the Mountain Course... how many MHKs would we have to pay off?
Cadwell and Anglesey have lots to offer from fast sweeping corners to stop/start hard braking. Plus lovely locations.
Angelesy has a location that is lovely when it's nice... I did the no budgie cup there and we had to call our rider in a lap or two early to get him out and then catch our tent that was blowing away... I like Angelesy, but if you don't like slow hairpins you've got 3 corners a lap you'll hate (I quite like them as it happens). what makes Cadwell top the list for me is the way it follows the terrain. Which isn't a huge surprise as IIRC it's based on estate roads. Incidentially, is it just me, or does anyone else think the drive out of the paddock wouldn't make a bad hillclimb? Agreed re stop/start. Donnington and Croft are at the other end of the "flowing" scale. Mike
