Well, the age old question it seems for pre 2013 models. I know it's been asked loads, but I can't find any current suppliers for the Aztec mod, I won't be keeping the current screen (it's the MRA one). It's too ugly for my liking. For short trips, such as weekend blasts and what have you, I will probably use a carbon fibre shorty (yet to find one). But obviously I would like something much more comfortable for longer runs. I'm 6'2", is there any screen out there that can solve the buffeting issues? Has anyone transferred the 2013 screen to the earlier models? Thanks
2013 screens have 4 bolts and 10-12 has 3 so won't fit. Oh and carbon shorty feels comfy at reasonably high speed too. I added the small Eagle wind deflectors (from Oz) which helped as well. I'll add a link. http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f6/excessive-wind-uncledons-wings-wind-deflectors-4333/
I saw that option, it looks nicer as well... Havning ridden the 1098S for around 6 hours in one day... The wind was fine. Is it a similar feel? As in, no jet stream of air, just air rushing in general? I guess I will find out by simply removing the screen?
You can probably pick up a 2nd hand standard screen for not much money which can be cut down as req'd and spray black if ness. I remember speaking to a dealer (Snells) back in 2011 who had a few extra spare new screens which were just left by new bike owners when they had touring/aftermarket screens fitted at 1st service. Probably still lying around at dealers up and down the country.
Well the bike I got comes with both the MRA and standard screen... I could chop the MRA one up? Guess the base isn't much more different... Or maybe chop the OEM one?
Should have bought a 2013 bike. The shape of the fairing is different too as i understand it. It seems its the buffeting that is an issue for many owners rather than windblast.
Hi There I have the Eagle wind deflectors and the extra large Eagle touring screen, this combination is miles better than anything I have tried before, its quiet and there is very little buffeting. The only drawback is that if you have the screen in its highest setting it is very easy to actually head butt the top of the screen as you get on the bike as it is raked back and very tall. It might not be the prettiest solution but I do 130 miles everyday mainly on the motorway and it keeps me comfortable. For the record I am 6ft 1 and pretty bulky.
Hi there, I bought direct from their website in Australia, I just sent them an email, really nice guys to deal with.
Hi I'm sure I could help you with the Aztec Spacers I also have a spare brand new unused original screen
I'm 6' 2" and use a Puig short sport screen, looks much nicer when in lowest position but not great for long journeys like that, however on long journeys i just raise it to the highest point and it works pretty well for me, not perfect, but certainly acceptable. Definitely better than standard and standard with spacers.
plus 1 for the puig. I leave it on all the time. No buffeting around the helmet area. You just notice the air hitting around your upper arms and shoulders. Really nice looking thing too and one of the least expensive.
I kept my touring screen and cut down the standard one as per AndyW's measurements from the Motorcycle Info Pages and it works a treat for me.
Another +1 for the Puig Sports Screen. I have that fitted together with the Eagle Wind Deflectors and that is perfect for me, even for long distance. You get wind in the face, but it is clean so zero buffeting, which was the killer for me on the original and the Ducati Touring screen.
Eagle Screens also make tinted versions of the 2013 OEM screen. They are 4 mm instead of 4.5 mm thick and require a spacer under each securing screw but I think the airflow over the lip of the screen is smoother than the original. Maybe something to do with being thinner and having a very smooth lip, who knows, but a permanent fixture on my PP.
