I love a bit of mountain biking, I have a 6 year old Specialized FSR XC with a load of upgraded components. I keep thinking about replacing the frame and forks but I always manage to find other things to spend my cash on...
HT for local and winter, FS for trips further afield. Had a 2009 Superlight, 100mm front and rear, but have now gone for a bit more travel (Blur LT) to compensate for my lack of skill on rocky terrain. I did get down Jacob's ladder on the SL a couple of years ago with only 1 over the bars incident. Always enjoy getting out on 2 wheels even if I am old and slow, (just over 5 1/2 hours for the Isle of Man e2e this year).
Trek Top Fuel 9.7 for the summer. Great bike, nice and plush. Cube Reaction GTC for the winter and commuting to work.
NO mountain biking but I have ridden this year an average of 75 miles per week on my Trek Domane. Last year I rode from the English channel to the med with my son 7 days 700 miles. View attachment 21859 View attachment 21860 Next Ride Isle of Wight 1st of Dec. BRRRR cold wearing lycra.
Only one mountainbike: a 2008 (?) Scott Scale 20 but also a 2011 Trek Madone 5.9, Orbea Aqua 105 and a Brompton S2
Only one roadbike, somewhere in the shed under 2 years+ of dust:smile: I much prefer wider tyres and some suspension with the state of our roads.
MTB is still my first hobby - so a few bikes through my stable over the years. It's never a static build for more than a few months! Currently thashing a Specialized Carbon Enduro with BOS deville/Vipr shocks and enve carbon wheelset, dropper post/xtr/11 speed. That's my fave enduro/trail bike which you can nail a full on downhill track on as well. Have a full on race DH bike too but I rarely ride it. Tempted to do the full Megavalanche race week this year as I keep meaning to do it with a mate of mine but we never find the time..... Got a road bike too for commuting and keeping honest, but it's less fun and more cathartic as a hobby! Had the other three nicked earlier this year when my garage was broken into...... still, can have a look for something new next year. Unless I spend it all on track days!
havent pulled my mtb out for a while. it needs some tlc before I can use it. been a quiet year for my road bike with my works shift pattern. need to get back into it soon as I was once a billy goat up the hills but now am not fit for purpose lol
A 2011 black Cube Ltd Cross Country which got me into Single Track with some folks I work with. Been struggling with tendonitis in my foot so haven't been out for a while. Andy
I have a £300 mongoose, to me that was bloody expensive as my last push iron was a Raleigh chopper. I don't do any serious riding, mainly the pennine bridleway as the ride includes taking the dog out. He has a harness which I attach to the headstock via a long retractable lead. He comes in handy on the uphill sections
Sure I've posted before - me back in the :cough: 80's (however it does remind me I was once upon a time fit lol) on a Kline I have a 2007 Cannondale Carbon fibre bike now that I ride when I can which is sadly not as often as I'd like Wish I'd kept those lycra leggings they're back in fashion now
Char, Do you still watch the races these days? They would gap that road now without thinking...... things move on don't they?! I remember those days too. I am sure that picture is very late 80's or early 90's - don't age yourself prematurely! I would have been on a Kona Explosif or Hei Hei back then...... wish I still had the bikes (if not the leggings)
no I don't follow any racing these days wish I still had the bike - those retro attitude frames are fetching 2k lol Like to get over to Cwmcarn for the uplift but since my sons are busy with girlfriends and new homes these days not very often Hopefully will get a visit in after the New Year with Wantz - keep meaning to try the place near Blandford (UK Bike Park?) as nearer - again on the 'to do list'
yeap Boardman FS team... don't laugh with plenty of tasty upgrades including a fox RP23 shock. Also have a very fast 2012 Trek 8500, but its slower with me on  Broke my shoulder last year and its knocked my confidence had plenty of crashes since due to panic breaking, hence broken ribs, pulled neck muscles and dived 8ft into a beck face first. Bikes never looked as clean since!
