with my multi 2 years old in a couple of weeks time not being negative but I need to sort out some breakdown cover including Europe. Does anyone have any suggestions other than the obvious?
GEM Breakdown Cover I've recently changed to these guys, they cover you, not the vehicle. Not sure what they are like on european cover - not yet anyway !
Might be worth giving Ducati Insurance a ring Tony......I insured through them and also took up the offered Breakdown Cover which may well be available seperately: 0844 8800 960
Rac do breakdown cover for bikes You can have a European breakdown cover, or upgrade your standard cover to include a European trip, which is what I've just done to cover me for a trip to WDW in a couple of weeks
Be careful with the Breakdown cover included with insurance. I had it on mine and it cost me £200 to get recovered, apparently I was only covered for within 15 miles of my address! About as much use as a chocolate fire guard. I now have AA which cost about £120 and covers me, not specific vehicles. I've used them a couple of times, I ride a Ducati after all, and they were excellent. Sometimes you get what you pay for
AA for me too, I also have full cover with my insurance, Europe cover for both, accidents and breakdown.
Check out ADAC (German firm..) - Europe-wide cover for all your vehicles, costs me €79 a year for my little fleet....( 2 x cars, 2 x bikes....) The website is in German but there is an English page with contact numbers and a form (from memory !) They hook up with local county providers - AA covers the UK. PP
ADAC (allgemeine deutsche automobil club) is the german equivalent of the AA...good solid company and a much stronger lobby in Germany for the motorist in Germany than the AA is here I feel.... If you get such a good price then good for you...I would have no issue using them....just wonder when you call them for a break down....will there be an English speaker on the end of the line? They do a great motoring magazine....but only in german
See my "spoilt day out thread" for my breakdown problems with my " rescue my bike " policy. Have had Brittania Rescue reccomended by the people at Leeds Bike tyres who also operate a recovery company. Not keen on AA / RAC they are fine for cars, but dont really appear to treat bike recovery on the same level, hence long periods awaiting for a recovery truck to come into the area where you are stranded.
Yes, I have used ADAC a few times over the years for both car and bike, both in Europe and here in England. The standard of their English is better than some of the AA/RAC call centres! I have also timed them by once calling them and the RAC to see who would arrive quicker (I was in London), and the ADAC arrived quicker (they use the AA Gold service as their UK partner).
