  1. Anyone any experience of these ? - supposed to improve performance and mpg without invalidating any manufacturers warranty

  2. I have some magic beans for sale if you're interested?

  3. Its one the better boxes around. DTUK are also good. I had a German Racechips Pro 2, it claimed to give 300bhp and 541 torques on my A4 3.0 TDI. I never had it on a rolling road so cant say say how close to the truth or not that is but it turned it from a quick car to a rocket ship.. However it kinda did turn the throttle in to an on off switch and I felt like it was a battle to get it off the line. Few months on and in started causing the car to lurch and it was as if it was sometimes running on 5 cylinders engine managemnet light would come on. All this was intermittant, I managed to get the box back and get a refund.

  4. My boss told me I was too gullible, and I believed him

  5. I'm very skeptical. if there was a way of improving MPG and performance without compromising anything else the manufacturer would already be doing it.

I've seen first hand the damage remaps can do too, if a diesel has been remapped NEVER buy it.

  6. Some of those boxes are nothing more than a resistor in a large case!

  7. sounds like my ex-wife

  8. Guy I work with popped one on his Golf TDI and says has helped.

It hasn't helped me. :( as he points and laughs at me every day saying my Golf does 70mPG how many does your Golf do?????
To which I mumble rude words and say 14 MPG :(

  9. I fitted one to my Civic 2.2, i had to bed it in for about 500 miles, before properly trying it.

It made too much difference! on hard acceleration it would slip the clutch in any gear, and wheel spin everywhere, fun for a short period, but the thought of having to replace a clutch every 10 mins on a car that has them made of cheese anyway, made me remove it.

As for "I'm very skeptical. if there was a way of improving MPG and performance without compromising anything else the manufacturer would already be doing it."

just look at the Ford/Skoda/Seat/Audi/VW range of diesel engines, they are all the same less the plastic engine cover and the chip, giving more BHP/Torque oh yes and the price!

Have a look on your vehicles forum (there will be one!) and someone somewhere will have tried one and will be telling everyone all about it, they are very useful places to get good information, just look at this site we are on :upyeah:

  10. Here is what the dealer says :-

Thank you for your enquiry regarding Tunit. Below I have supplied a brief insight of the Tunit V-CR, with performance figures relating to your vehicle. The tunit will increase the performance of your vehicle from 150BHP to 175BHP and the torque from 251 lbs/ft to 281 lbs/ft.

The Tunit will give more flexibility lower down the rev range through increased bottom end torque. Mid range pulling power is also improved. This generally allows you to make use of the higher gears at lower revs.

The tunit V-CR suited to your vehicle is easily fitted and adjusted by yourself or it can be fitted for your convenience by any of our nationwide dealers. It is compact in size, unobtrusive and very simply adjusted as well as being interchangeable between many other vehicles. Its unique ability to be fully adjustable to the characteristics of each individual vehicle makes the Tunit V-CR stand out above alternative fixed map devices and chips.

As a result of tuning most people also tend to gain 7-12% better fuel economy. This can vary from vehicle to vehicle and depends on application, but is generally the case.

This particular Tunit comes complete with a detachable harness that has original manufacturers plugs matching the ones on your engine. Installation is simply a case of fitting the two plugs on the Tunit harness to two plugs on your engine. With the tunit there is no need for dismantling or going inside your ECU.

In many cases the Tunit can be moved from one vehicle to another with only a simple reprogram and/or additional adapter. In some cases your Tunit may not transfer to your next vehicle and for this we offer a part exchange facility throughout our dealer network, which has now been extended to a lifetime P/X on all new tunits.

Our dealer network is able to offer many services and facilities from sales and installation to vehicle testing, adjustment and reprogramming. Customer service is always a priority with help and advice always at the end of a phone or in person.

When you have purchased your Tunit this will then be backed up by a comprehensive 5 year warranty giving peace of mind that we will be there for you not only now but in the future.

In regards to insurance, you should declare the Tunit as it is classed as a modification. I would suggest to the insurers that you are doing it for fuel saving. Also mention that it is only increasing power levels to that of a standard IS220d. (Just under, according to our figures, but tI would expect to see at least 177BHP and 295lbs/ft.)

At present we do not have a reconditioned unit for yours, but I could offer a deal on a new unit at 20% off the RRP (trade), which would bring it out at £390.48 inc vat instead of £489. This way as well, you get the 5 year warranty and lifetime PX option.

The Tunit will only need removing for servicing if the car is under warranty and / or you get it serviced by a main dealer. Most people remove the tunit before the car goes to a main dealer for warranty reasons.

Please do not hesitate to contact myself or visit our website at http://www.tunit.com if you have any further queries. Details for your IS 200d can be found here: Tunit Diesel Performance :: Vehicle Search
