Yes, it's all about the manufacturers. The fact there's only three involved (4 if Suzuki get their act together) is what is diluting the series. With more manufacturers involved there'd be no need for CRTs. Where are Kawasaki, Triumph, BMW, KTM, et al? Perhaps Dorna should look into allowing single bike teams into motogp, to allow less prolific manufacturers to be able to afford to compete.
Currently, unless thay can beat Honda, new entrants can look forward to virtually no TV coverage and so cannot attract sponsors...how do we fix that?
I don't see any reason for factory bikes in moto gp. Granted it would not be the same without them but different doesn't have to mean worse. There is no fundamental reason why it could not be attractive to TV. It would need to be not production bike based. Allow enough technical variation to get the creative juices flowing and therefore attract the designers that can do that kind of thing. Financially rewarding enough for them to do so. Noisy and colourful Minimum 25 on the grid .
I don't know the full story of the origins of motorcycle GP racing, but you can bet your life the majority of bikes on the grid first time out were production bikes in one form or another. I can't see any issue at all with someone using production bits like engines and frames to build a GP bike. After all, Yamaha built about a billion TZs, which is a production run in anyones' book.
Well Rossi is now seemingly resigned to the fact that if he's not competitive within the first 6 races of next year then times up. Rossi To Decide Future After First Six Races Of 2014 | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks
Kropotkin needs to type faster, this revelation came out the day after Rossi sacked Burgess. Even my granny could predict Mugello as the tipping point. Interestingly, Bike magazine says that Yamaha are launching a ground-up rebuilt R1 for 2015, and will be looking for a high profile name to ride it in WSB...those extra few months off would certainly come in handy for testing...
If he's thinking of WSB, he needs to go sooner rather than later. Having said that, he's still younger than both Biaggi and Checa. For a man who's made record book wages from racing, perhaps the prize won't be big enough to tempt him.
Saying that its sponsorship that could keep him afloat, his GP stock is only going to go down what with the yellow fans of old now becoming orange/red fans of MM in WSBK it'd be a different story, just as long as he was immediately competitive and against the likes of sykes etc it'll be no walk in the park I can tell you
Mugello will be Rossi's last MotoGP race, because he isn't going to find anything magic between now and then. Lorenzo consistently beat him last time they were both on Yamahas, and Rossi won't have got faster at Ducati, and Pedders hasn't slowed down, and Marquez can beat anyone. So that's done and dusted. Will he go to WSBK? I think he might, because he loves racing motorbikes and there is nowhere else for him to go. Also he may be inspired by what Biaggi and Checa have achieved - and he knows he was faster than both. Add a few WSBK crowns while having a good time? Why not? That sounds like fun. Plus if Yam have got a new bike to promote, and Dorna would dearly love to reinject some pizzazz into WSBK, it's a recipe that makes everyone happy - with the possible exception of Kawasaki.
He s clever enough no to go to wsbk .. Nothing to win , lots to loose ( rep and healrh) next racing will be cars .. And pit presence through team ownership / mngmnt
read the latest moto gp news from official site and he denies this saying it was taken out of context months ago
