Well, I'd hoped by now that I'd be announcing my recent purchase of a multi, instead I'm kicking myself for not being sharp enough to seal the deals, I'm clearly out of practice since being off work all summer and only recently being back on it. The first bike was a 2012 Sport from a member on here and to be fair to him he was very very good and did all he could for me(thanks mate), I just needed a little time to sort out some extra cash to my 'bike kitty' as it was over budget and then when I finally got sorted I called him and he'd literally just taken a deposit (gutted) so then I got a bee in my bonnet and luckily stumbled across a 2011 ABS on eBay which was a lot cheaper all be it out of warranty etc anyway, long story short I said I'd have it and was in contact with him all morning but I was in a meeting during the day and just asked for bank details so I could get the deposit sent over when I got home (technically my mrs bank) so bugger me, would you believe somebody then did the Buy it now in the afternoon and so it automatically accepted the buyers offer and so I lost out again its all my fault really, should've just been more decisive and pushed to get money across etc, oh well. Maybe neither were meant to be, but it didn't stop me sitting there for a few hours the other night designing my new paint scheme on photoshop, it looks bloody marvellous too. so as my uncle Barry used to say... 'Time waits for no man mate' (in an Aussie accent) one will turn up, but non available suit at the mo, either too high mileage or too much is being asked for them. watch this space
My 2010 abs was for sale last month, wrong time of year, now wrapped up in the garage until next spring when it will be up for sale. Full Termi, panniers, Givi top box adapter, usual R & G protection, new chain and sprockets, 10500 miles.
Cheers for the heads up Must admit though that I was after one with less mileage, not saying 10k is over the hill but both of the ones I was going for had no more than 6k on the clocks. saying all that though it'd come down to price ultimately
Your like the Cilla Black of the bike world I'm not chomping mate, still has to be the right bike at the right price. it just pissed me off because I'd made the decision it's the way I was gonna go. After deciding I could just about stretch to the S model (at the price I was offered) and when I missed that to then miss out on one yesterday after agreeing everything with the seller ready to pay the deposit last night I was gutted. You know the only reason I didn't put my offer via eBay was because I kinda thought it might cost him more money, technically I was being considerate (possibly wrong) Like I said one will turn up, I'm not fussed on colour because it's getting a full make over. Just has to be a nice clean example with low miles
I wasn't suggesting you would pay any price. That'd be a crazy thing to do  I just didn't understand why he had his bike for sale a month ago then was taking it off the market over the winter when you are a potential buyer, right now. There again if you wait till Spring his bike will have depreciated further
Theres absolutely loads for sale but I'm afraid too many at unrealistic prices when you take mileage into consideration. some dealers are offering good deals on very light mileage 2013 skyhooks and ABS models but again it's just pushing the budget up, both bikes I looked at had less then half the mileage of a few others similarly priced, plenty have been sat on eBay for months and they just won't sell IMO
Well they sold a lot didn't they, and many have been very well used judging by the miles, far more than I'd stick on in a couple of years I can tell you. thats the trick, it's finding one that's done little leg work.
Fancy a tricolore S model with topbox as well? It has 10k on it. It will be standard apart from carbon dipped mudguard, snorkels, splashguard and chainguard. PM me if you're interested and we can talk about a price. It will be attractively priced I promise you.
I'll bung you a pm..... Again mileage a little high in comparison to what I looked at but curiosity gets the better of me
Interesting how so much emphasis is put on milage. I remember a few years ago when I sold my 5 year old R1 with 25000 miles on the clock, I got comments about high milage. The bike was immaculate and very well serviced, but more importantly ridden with mechanical sympathy. The engine purred!
Yeah - it's nonsense really, but nonsense perpetuated by the bike trade who use whatever means they can to encourage people to keep buying new bikes. My MTS had new clocks at 10K miles under warranty, and if I was the type I could easily pass the mileage off as the amount now recorded (about 4K) as it is in immaculate condition. Really it is the condition and the service record that matters, but despite knowing this I am sometime put off buying "high" mileage stuff too because I know it will be an issue when I come to sell - mind you if the price you buy at is right then it doesn't really matter that you will get a bit less when you come to sell.....
Mine has 10k on it but it's cleaner than most dealer demo bikes and has been Ducati maintained. 3k P/A isn't much, I do that in 1 month in my car!!
I haven't said I can't sell it now, if someone made a reasonable offer then it would go. The original ad with MCN expired and I didn't pay to renew it. Historically winter isn't the best time of year to sell but great to buy. I'm lucky enough not to be desperate to sell it so will happily wait until next year when the market picks up. By replying to the OP he knows I've got a bike for sale, if they are interested then they can send me a PM, if not they won't, no harm done either way.
. anyway, long story short I said I'd have it and was in contact with him all morning but I was in a meeting during the day and just asked for bank details so I could get the deposit sent over when I got home (technically my mrs bank) I would get a new bank manager while your at it, mine told me not to bother with a 2nd hand bike, and buy a new one .
