  1. Both are the same price and similar condition but which one would you opt for??

600ss L 17000 miles 12 Months MOT Service and Belts No History
600ss R 17000 miles 5 Months MOT No Service or Belts New tyres/battery + Alarm & Data Tagged + History

  2. Bit of a no brainer really!!

  3. The one with the history and new tyres / battery , DIY some new belts and a oil service as that will be less than those two and you'll know it's been done .
Otherwise buy the red one .

  4. Spot on!!! The red one it is :upyeah:

I for got to say that the L reg bike is through a dealer, if it makes any difference to opinions.

  5. If you can do the belts then b is a good option but haggle hard quoting dealer prices for a belt service.

  6. As above :upyeah:

  7. Bike A The dealer I've managed to knock off £100 so far, bearing in mind he had not intention of budging to start.
Bike B I've managed to knock down £150 which again Isn't bad. Mind you the asking prices they were looking for were quite steep for the 600 to start!!
Thanks again to all who gave me advise on haggling - it's kinda worked!!

  8. What sort of price are they?? Near 900 money??? Or is it the 600 model your after?

  9. £1400. Had 2 in the past as well as a 750 and 748 so I'm a bit of a sucker for punishment!!
If you read my previous posts, it'll explain the position I'm in.
There are a couple if nice 900s out there but no 750s at all have come about in the last couple of months I've been looking.

  10. The 600 gets a bad press, it's only 20 bhp down on the 900 and 10 down on the 750.

I have thoroughly enjoyed mine, it's been a perfect first Ducati since passing my test earlier this year, quick enough for a first big bike but never intimidating, and looks a million dollars in the garage propped up on its paddock stand.

I will probably trade up next year to either a 749 or 748 but I'm seriouly considering keeping the 600 as well I really am smitten with it.

  11. I upgraded from the 750ss to a 748 a few years ago now but despite the lovely looks etc. of the 748 they have issues with the exhaust rockers. The chrome flakes off and you end up with a very expensive bill. I didn't know this when I bought mine the engine was as sweet as a nut until I pulled out the oil filter gauze. Engine was fine for a year or so but started to get the inevitable tapping due to the timing being out. The rockers had to be replaced and I knew it was time for her to go. I just couldn't afford to do the repairs. At this point i decided to invest in another 600ss :)wink: Ducbid). You know their faults and can work on them with your eyes shut. Between the the 3 SS's, forget the fact the 600 is a single exhaust and not a twin, you wouldn't really know the difference between them. At the end of the day a Duke is a Duke and a definite head turner so why spend the earth.

  12. Sorry the only posts I've read are the ones in the thread? So not privy to the position you in?

    Good luck with your search.

  13. I think the second one will need some money throwing at it, it will definitely need a set of tyres and belts, if it was mine I would have the tank painted. He also admits that it's not running properly.

I bought a better bike than that, but with a higher mileage in the summer for £1100

  14. I quote :-

"The timing or carb balancing, don't know much about Ducati's and due to a accident on my race bike I am no longer riding motorcycles. This was something to get up and going for myself to use on the road but due to circumstances I have lost interest. It struggles if you turn the choke fully off and can backfire when getting off the throttle from decent revs."

  15.
  16. Its a good well sorted bike but It will still need a few other bits doing as its not had much regular use, so no more than £2000, they are not worth any more.
