  1. been following threads and other comments about houses and sheds being broken into
well sods law found my fairly secure shed has been tampered with
well if that's what you call removing two fairly substantial padlocks off the door
luckily the third lock seemed to deter them and they didn't actually gain entry
although I am expecting a second visit
so for the last few hours been spending time re securing the door as much as I can till Monday
when I can make up a bit hardware at work
rang police mainly because there have been a lot of burgalrys local recently
got the response I would expect as they didn't gain entry
I might get a call sometime

    whoo roll on christmas :frown:

  2. They are most likely looking for cycles. Suggest if you keep them in the shed you now move them into your house. The next thing on their shopping list will be power tools, so I'd do the same with them for now before they return.

  3. I had a similar incident about a week into moving house earlier this year into what insurance companies rate as a good area of Birmingham. (Yeah yeah jokes to follow i know). I had to find 2 broken planks on the roof before checking outside and finding scuff marks on the door where some toe rag had been climbing on to the roof. Chain lube all up the doors fixed that but i feel sure is was to attack the back door to the garage.
I traded as a locksmith years ago so i'm happy the place is secure, but it's the hassle and sleepless nights wondering if they're coming back. I could get you trade prices on locks, hasps, hinge pins, bolts, everything really to tighten up security if you need to.
I hope you can keep the little buggers at bay though.

  6. Top idea :upyeah: Then put burglar in dog

  7. cheers guys
yep push bike is in the house for now it only goes in the shed at weekends anyway
as for power tools there in the house anyway
well the main things in the shed that are accessible are remnants of diy projects and some car wheels
    probably some old hand tools
odd they left the kids bikes at the top of the yard ...........dam I wanted rid of them lol

  8. Id be busy making booby traps for next time. Then you just have to remember they are there before you enter or you would look pretty silly in A&E.

  9. If you are expecting them back, buy a knackered bike off gumtree and smear it with grease, treacle and dog shit, leave it by the shed and let them help themselves

  10. They will most likely be looking for top end priced bikes, which are more desirable and easier to flog.

  11. good job I have not got any top end bikes lol
round here they will take pretty much anything not nailed down
even if I had a dog in the back yard they would probably steal the dog turds

  12. Having just had my bike stolen, I am now looking to get its (better) replacement.
Problem: if the new one goes into the shed that had its door hinges removed, I imagine it will just get nicked too. The thieves will probably be expecting a new bicycle to grow where they removed the old one.

My folks don't much want a bicycle in their house.

That leaves the garage, which is enormous. I suppose I could put the bike there, but how long before the thieves break into that? There isn't much to steal in that garage - it's full of old junk. So a new bike will really stand out.

    Doh.

  13. Neighbours once had their pekinese stolen.

  14. what about leaving a bike for them to steal. im thinking fill the frame with something very flammable and a remote trigger and I think you know where im going.

  15. if wasn't so cold I would sleep in the shed and then jump out and yell surprise
well that's what I am saying I would do

come to think of it mate of mine years ago had an item that used shotgun cartridge blanks on a wire and pin mechanism hmmm
wonder if you can still get them ?

  16. A small wax capsule of hydrofluoric acid melted onto the top of the saddle might do the trick. The thief who tries riding it might be discouraged when he finds his bollocks being corroded. Just don't forget to swap to a cleaner saddle before you ride it yourself. And don't get caught.

  17. well a bit a look on the old tinternet came up with a drive way wireless pir sensor alarm thing
supposedly over 300 feet range between sensor and alarm so should easily have enough range for what I want
and for the bargain price of £20 including delivery on amazon
there was some cheaper ones on ebay from china also more expensive ones about aswell
    but see what turns up
if it works its a heads up when the twats turn up again :upyeah:

  18. My brother has been fitting his CCTV today ! Film the scum but hopefully a further deterrent

  19. man traps.

massive great mantraps, and when you get home hatchet the bloke to death and spread him out of spikes for his mates to see.

  20. thought about man traps but to be honest I don't think I could with that many ex girlfriends about lol

cctv had that before on a business premises found it didn't deter them they just wore hoods
and the police couldn't identify them
the biggest problem there is no real deterent to stop the criminals as they just get a slap on the wrist if caught
