Prices Creeping - Rocketing Up ?

  1. a lovely bike.
I hope the 999 series rocket up too.
Don't ask me why lol

  2. That's a really lovely example, absolutely stunning.

This surely has to go down as the Motorcycling all time worst-timed bike release, because had they have released them now, when the whole industry is going Cafe' racer retro mad, they would deffo sell more (especially with a few basic updates).

  3. When Ducati released the Sport Classic S it was uniformly panned by the press for its uncomfortable riding position. This was the main reason I sold mine.If I hadn't been laid low by illness I would have kept it.

  4. Because of the press review or the riding position?

  5. Sorry about that-yes the riding position was pretty uncomfortable. All the while I was pretty malleable I really enjoyed the bike.I was sorry to see it go,I think it is now in Australia.

  6. Yes. I sold mine for the same reason. I think Ducati missed a trick by making it sooo uncomfortable. Trouble is the people who it appealed to, I.E. those who remember the 900 ss from the 70's were no longer able to contort themselves to ride it without the aid of painkillers!

  7. I agree - many Triumph fans wonder the same about the original Triumph Thunderbird Sport ( though in my mind it can't hold a candle to the SC  ) modern performance in a classic package - dumped in 2003 and used prices going through the roof now!

    Madness..

  8. Ducati SPORT CLASSIC 1000 1000cc | eBay

Even as an owner for five years I still cant understand the price hiking on these, if this ones any measure my bike is worth thousands (-as in more than the price of my other bike, an S2R) more than I paid for it ( I even had the side panels graciously gifted to me )

  9. You can't help feeling that it wouldn't be difficult for Ducati to do a new run of these with a few modifications, like adjustable handlebars and pegs.
How hard can it be for them?
And the price shouldn't be too hideous, as they wouldn't need all the new electronic gubbins on such a bike.

  10. The problem isnt the height of the bars, its the distance from the front of the seat to the bars. Were they to make another version they should shorten the tank length a little, and make the seat narrower, the other issues wouldn't then be so much of a problem

  11. Heli-bars to bring the bars 10-15mm closer to the seat, or is the issue much more extreme than that?

I ride my Dads Triumph Thruxton quite a bit and find it really really comfortable but it's quite different, it does need more power though and a slightly more 'sportsbike' style set of wheels and brakes.

  12. I've got '06 SC1000 with raised clip-ons, like on the biposto and I find it more comfortable to ride than 1098S or Daytona 675 I had before. I guess being 6'3" helps a bit, as I don't have to stretch as much over the tank.

  13. You're the same height as me, think the mono is slightly better with the wind taking off some of your upper body weight. The PS and 1000S's are the killers..who cares when they look so cool.

That bike must be sold as now gone from bike trader and ebay.

  14. You're probably right. Plus there're more clip-on/handlebar options available as you're not limited by the fairings.

  15. I bought my GT1000 to enjoy riding it, I never planned it as an investment. Just starting to wonder if I should think about saving for something to ride during the winter & keep the GT for nicer days when there is no salt on the roads? Sounds like a plan for justifying a 2nd bike to Her Indoors....??

  16. Definitely.
You wouldn't want to be riding a bike like that around in the salt.

Come to think of it, you don't want to be riding any Ducati around in the salt. I won't be riding mine.

  17. One exactly the same as this sold privately on ebay for £7500.00 only a few months ago, based on mileage, Termi's etc. Don't tell me dealers are buying them and selling them on at these prices.

    DUCATI SPORT 1000 cc Sport 1000 S (07MY)

Sorry to keep going on about it but the SportClassic market has gone mad ..... and they're selling.

  18. Not so much creeping up as galloping up.
