it could be argued jerry adams is a very classy man. after all he has now brought his cause and beliefs to the negotiating table and is now a politician (as mandella was). with backing by his supporters to forward his political mandate (as mandella did)
(from web not me !!!!) 3 Things You Didn’t (Want To) Know About Nelson Mandela The hero of the anti-apartheid struggle was not the saint we want him to be.The image of Nelson Mandela as a selfless, humble, freedom fighter turned cheerful, kindly old man, is well established in the West. If there is any international leader on whom we can universally heap praise it is surely he. But get past the halo we’ve placed on him without his permission, and Nelson Mandela had more than a few flaws which deserve attention. He signed off on the deaths of innocent people, lots of themNelson Mandela was the head of UmKhonto we Sizwe, (MK), the terrorist wing of the ANC and South African Communist Party. At his trial, he had pleaded guilty to 156 acts of public violence including mobilising terrorist bombing campaigns, which planted bombs in public places, including the Johannesburg railway station. Many innocent people, including women and children, were killed by Nelson Mandela’s MK terrorists. Here are some highlights-Church Street West, Pretoria, on the 20 May 1983-Amanzimtoti Shopping complex KZN, 23 December 1985-Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court, 17 March 1988-Durban*Pick ‘n Pay shopping complex, 1 September 1986-Pretoria*Sterland movie complex 16 April 1988 – limpet mine killed ANC terrorist M O Maponya instead-Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, 20 May 1987-Roodepoort Standard Bank
It's just a pity that he did it after organising a reign of terror and the deaths and maiming of many innocent people. It's just a pity that he only did it when support for his disgusting bloody campaign ebbed so far that the IRA had essentially lost. It's just a pity that he's never come clean about his role in the IRA and what he got up to. There has been no Truth Commission à la South Africa. Martin McGuinness was just as bad. The IRA and their factions, as well as the UDA were just thugs. Some of them may have believed in the cause. For most, it was just sectarianism. In any case, what flavour of Sky God you want to believe in when you are already reading out of the same pack of lies as your enemies ("Love your enemy" - WTF??) constitutes no basis for having a bloody tiff.
Gerry Adams and Martin McGuiness led the IRA during the height of the troubles, they ordered acts of terror and executions and were probably directly involved in such acts in order to rise to the top. Police 'laying siege to journalism' over claim Gerry Adams ordered killing | UK news | The Guardian Gerry Adams Asked What He Knew About The Disappeared | News | The Irish News Gerry Adams 'ordered murder of Jean McConville', claims IRA commander Brendan Hughes from beyond the grave | Mail Online Is that clear enough.
Personally, I think you ought to balance that list with one about all the atrocities committed by the white government forces, the people like Steve Biko that they rubbed out etc etc. Did you read Mandela's biography?
At least he can't be wheeled out for public events now. Just leaves poor old Ali to carry that mantle.
i havent read it glidd but who wrote it...I dont know the answer but I imagine it has a certain perspective and direction as these books do. . put it this way david beckham didnt write alex fergusons biography.. but all this seems rather selective.. it certainly wasnt a peaceful cause on behalf of mandella. innocent people died in his name shopping centre bombings train station bombings.. but that's fine because it all turned out good in the end ?????
BBC News - NI attorney general John Larkin calls for end to Troubles prosecutions John Larkin was appointed by Martin McGuiness. They want to bury the truth regarding the troubles, and their part in it. Oh, forgot to add. Unless you are a former soldier who served in NI.
At his trial, he {mandella} had pleaded guilty to 156 acts of public violence including mobilising terrorist bombing campaigns, which planted bombs in public places, including the Johannesburg railway station. sorry but like many others have stated earlier he was a terrorist. no two ways about it - thats a proven fact innocent people died with the non discriminatory bombings. these werent aimed at military installation or police HQ or the state. they were indescriminate. what I find interesting is how this can be glossed over and categorised as acceptable. glidd, johnv - are those acts acceptable this is all a bit Lance Armstrong.
No they are not acceptable. Mandela pleaded guilty at a trial and spent many years in jail where he renounced terrorism and later instigated the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Unlike GA and MM who have never come clean.
im not slagging anyone for their standpoint. thats not my motive.. im purely interested in how your (everyone whos bothered to engage) opinions are formed. in many ways the route he took from terrorist to politician is a well trodden one around the world at various points in time. its interesting to see why some can make a clear distinction of whats acceptable when it suits. after all a thief is always a thief
dont be so naive regarding the TRC. I have done a little reading for the past hour or so and it seems they found the truth where they decided to look for it. and as a result of the TRC many other injustices were caused aka BEKO. gerry adams also renounced terrorism. does that make him any less a terrorist. perhaps GA and MM came as clean as the elected governments of the day wanted them too to help the good friday agreement along on its merry way....??
Hang on. Wasn't he in prison in Robben Island during this time in solitary? I'm not condoning what he did in his earlier life, but he has more than made up for it in his later life... We're the decisions to bomb innocents his? I doubt it. The man is a Latter Day Saint in my opinion. What some of the invasive whites did far outweighed the callous acts of the whites in SA...
