Ducati tank bag

  1. Thanks for that David, Freak raves about his as well, and it certainly looks a quality piece of kit so it looks a the most likely candidate despite the price

  2. Hiya mate, can't wait for the trip, I've been very pleased with Baglux stuff before in the past, but because of the size and shape of the tank on the Mutley there's a very limited range that fits the tank (one 25 litre bag and a what looks like a ladies purse) Total cost of over £200 and i think there's better options

  3. Well I've gone for it and ordered the Givi T491 - watch this space for comment when it lands.

  4. If it arrives tomorrow do you fancy a trip to Cornerspeed so I can see it please, as I'm down at Neil's on Friday morning.

  5. Sounds like a plan, I need to see the Ducati Smurf anyway!

  6. See you there now that you've got all of that time on yours hands.........smurf..........gives me back ache talking to him, who said you shouldn't talk down to people!

  7. Shaun, if you want to have a look at my tank bag let me know I can easily meet up sometime over the B/H weekend if the weather is good and you fancy a ride

  8. No problem Shaun, just remember to let us know about your trip...photos too please! :upyeah: Hope you're enjoying the Termi stubby....

  9. Any ideas on a good tail bag. I'm yet to find one that looks half good ?

  10. Has it landed yet? Happy with it? Any chance of a pic?

  11. ....is that a standard or large pasty? .....looks a goodun, I put on LBS every time I'm in Cornwall! lol

I have what I refer to as a 'day' bag (a small tank bag) with magnetic base that I used on previous bikes..... I'm not a fan of having anything on the tank but it's handy to have somewhere to carry odds and ends. My solution...

....as I don't like tank bags anyway but do like the convenience of a 'day bag' for day trips - straps and velcro fixings are a pain in the neck.....solution, I designed a small rack made from mild steel (powdercoated black) that I can just snap my magnetic tank / day bag on...

  12. Here tis!

Interesting bit, the two pouches at the side and the one in front of the rider can be removed as a bum bag - good idea that.

The bag is well put together and just the right size for what I wanted.

Potential downside, the base isn't firm all the way back so there is potential for it possibly sagging down a bit when less than full to contact the tank but I have a cunning plan to deal with that - don't think it will be an issue full but will report back once it's been thoroughly road tested.

  13. Sometimes i cant be arsed to put the topbox on so i just strap on an old tankbag on the rack which with the Famsa tankbag is enough for a weekend !

This is the SW Motech Evo City - 11 to 15 litres. Bit small for serious touring, but ideal for a couple of days away. Very nicely made, with some cool touches, small carabina fitted inside to hook things onto, and an elasticated loop on the outside to tuck in the pull tab for the expander zip !

  15. I've now gone the same way.

Went to Bikebytz in Yately to compare Givi and SW Motech bags. Found the SW Motech locking mechanism intruded into the bag too much, and the 'footprint' of thee bags was generally too small.

Two things I'd prefer not to have on the Givi is the Silver branding and the headstock strap, which defeats the object of the 'quick' lock mechanism. Other than that I'm really pleased with it. Doesn't interfere with riding position or view of instruments at all.

    Cheers,

    Gary

  16. I've simply unclipped the headstock strap and tucked it behind the side pouches out of the way.

I agree with you on the Silver branding .....

  17. Here's the setup on mine

  18. Does anybody have the SW Motech bag with the 12v ring?
If so how easy is it to connect to the loom?
    Thanks

  19. I haven't but I assume you could use the satnav power point behind the left hand side panel?

  20. Thanks for that Freak. That would work well.
I know we've the two power points on the bike anyway but
my way of thinking is that it would be much easier to have my phone
for example, charging in the tankbag.
