hi all, I have a ducati monster 600M, I would like to ask someone whether a ducati monster 900ss clutch cover is compatible with mine? I do not have it, i have seen it for sale on a site and the dealer does not know if it is compatible or not. I would appreciate every feed back thanks.
^ yes, all 600 are wet plus don't forget rcv4 - there are at least two types of dry cover. The type Lumbux has is pretty rare (slave 'in' cover) and plates are not the same size as later dry clutch from memory. The 1989/1990 900SS also had the slave in the cover but the pushrod design was obviously 'on the cards' by then as there is redundant machining/tapping on the other side of the engine for the pushrod type slave.
good point but the 900 cover fits the dry 750,not too sure about the plates yet but the dry 750 doesn't have the machining/tapping on the left side of the engine....correct me if I am wrong chris.
dry 750 definitely doesn't have machining etc rcv4 I had one myself, I only included early 900SS details for possible added design interest. The plates are definitely different for early dry clutch, I just checked.
I didn't no the friction plates were different,i thought the plain plates would be as the centers a different,i have a wet 750 that should be dry so im just getting some parts sorted.
Well a slave seal kit is £114, so I'm going to go with the later type slave on the outside of the clutch cover, but if anyone can see a problem with this please let me know, I haven't ordered any bits yet but I think it will be less than £50 hopefully.
I'm beginning to think I'm glad I have a wet clutch............ .....and anyway, the engine makes so much d*mn noise, most people think it's got a dry one...........
It's hard to find a unit with a shallower height than the std unit, Ktm use a Magura which is worth looking at to save a little height :- below is another type used on a Yamaha.
Do you think the height will be an issue Chris? I'm not a knee down person and it won't be any wider than the foot pegs? I quite fancy using ducati parts if I can.
should be ok if you think in terms of BM's and Guzzi's ! I read up on someone who manage to mount a shallow unit inside the clutch cover to save space but I don't think it's a go-er on 'ours' as std due to lack of space - worth a look though.
that's a tidy looking slave,i don't think it would look too out of place, you may have a bit of work to do on the pushrod side of things.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KTM-RC8R-...rcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35ccf5c35d
Well clutch covers is ordered, its not new and will need a paint but it should be perfect for the job. Going to use a standard'ish slave to start with, once concept is proven then I'll look round for somthing thinner. I fell a thread coming on, watch this space.
You are talking to the person who took four years to get the dam thing running right, but I my defence I had been given the wrong spark plugs:-(
things aint looking too promising then, wrong plugs =4 years modifiying clutch cover new slave = 10!!!!! lol
The clutch cover arrived, its alot deeper than I thought, there's a huge gap between the clutch and the cover. So after thinking about it for a few seconds, I might be able to put the slave on the inside of the cover. I was looking at a slave off a 999s but dose anyone know the length of the external slaves, are there some thinner than others?
