I'm finding myself thinking more these days about buying a 1098r, I'd want to p/x my 1098s against it. How much am I going to have to shell out in reality? 1098s is a 2007 (57), with a few nice mods, 2500 miles and mint. Looking to buy a similarly mint 1098r although I'd accept a few more miles.
Seem to be a few about at 15k. I also spotted a rather nice 996R for 18k. I think my money would be on the 996R.
And you'd rather spend 18k on 30hp less then? ;-) the R is so much more than the S, form what R riders say...or why would anyone have one?!
The real world doesnt mean nowt when one desires a motorcycle. We just want what we perceive to be the best. Whether it is better for us or not. Otherwise we'd all be riding middleweight sports tourers instead of the wrist and back killers we adore currently.
I've seen dynos with 190hp on pretty standard R's...sure different dyno different day...yeah yeah.. And knowing a few who can ride big capacity stuff pretty quickly, even they say the R is almost unrideable, its got that much grunt. I'd like to have a go ;-)
I had..... an 07 1098S one of the first batch in the UK , it did 12,000 miles in a year, virtually no problems (a split radiator) lovely bike....... an 08 1098R lots of power and a fair bit lighter, incredible machine but lots of niggles. I was lucky enough to be able to afford it at the time but wouldn’t want one without a warranty, new gearboxes are £6k! 1198S would be a better buy IMO
R is an R and all that....I personally hate the scooby lookie wheels, much preffer the look of the 1198SP...
Find a 1098R with the Corse cams and velocity stacks. There is no angrier or addictive LOL Ducati. A ferocious pitbull that can still dance like a King. An R will always be an R.
