I bought the Playstation Plus pass a while back and it has been good value. I've got a Vita as well and the pass covers both. There's new games available to download ever month, some of which are still best sellers so it's worth it just for that alone, but it also does backups of your PS3/4 and Vita while the unit is asleep. My early model PS3 packed up a year ago and we replaced it with the Slim model just as the very last version was released so we go it cheap. We won't be buying a PS4 for quite a while yet. There's just not enough decent software available yet, plus we can't play any of our 20+ PS3 games on it. We bought a WiiU a year ago too and the kids love it. It's a great platform if a little underpowered, but fantastic for Sonic Racing and Mario stuff.
I would say that on mega expensive items like large televisions or high end HiFi. Also new technology, like the initial prices of Blu-Ray players a few years back. But this is a £350 console, are you really going to wait a year gnashing your teeth to save £100? I bought the PS4 based on the specs, owning both an Xbox 360 and PS3. To be honest I'm only getting 50% out of it at the moment as I only bought FIFA14 for it. The interface looks very good with a lot of features. My spare time is being spent on Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3. I forgot how much I hate getting my licences :tongue:
I've bought my friend an xbox one for his christmas present this year. They're hard to get hold of at the moment but last night I found one in stock on the ebay Argos outlet. Standard price, should be delivered on Monday. I know the PS4 is a better machine but I really liked my xbox 360 and I enjoyed the ease of playing online with it. Hopefully the xbox one will follow it, after a few updates that is.
Always Rob. Asides from being cheaper and the availability increasing, Ive just always waited with electrical goods. Especially games and consoles. Besides my PS3 is still good and GTAV will keep me happy for a while. Plus the PS4 is not backward compatible for games as I understand it. Ive never rushed out and bought anything on release day or thereabouts. Took me 2yrs to buy the 1198. :biggrin: Got it 3k cheaper. The same is true with games. BF4 is currently 50 quid! As is Ghosts! No chance. I will wait a while and get it for £20. I also build my own PC's. Its cheaper and I get more for my money. Now had my PS3 been useless and GTAV been PS4 only....i mightve been tempted. But both GTAV and GT6 are both PS3 releases, so Ive even less reason to rush. Licenses drives me effin mad on GT! 2 wheels on the grass on last corner after 20 laps or something and aaaaarrrggghhhh!!!!

Yeah, I totally agree with you, it was just with a PS4 they can't realistically drop that much as they don't have enough room to drop. I'm the same as you when buying expensive items. I bought my 1098s at two years old with 1,000 miles on it and a load of nice extras. The original owner had spent £7k more than I gave him for it. The Desmo was a similar story with the buyer splashing out on goodies like a £5k GP exhaust, ventureshield and tracker. I look at the receipts for the bike and I'm glad it wasn't me. My Streetfighter was my only indulgence, the dealer had discouunted it that much that I took the plunge. It'll probaly be my one and only new bike. I'm getting a little addicted to going up the hill at Goodwood on GT6, and played online last night for the 1st time which was a laugh.
I bought the PS4 and the xbox one. To be honest they are both pretty awesome. The PS4 has this neat little touchpad which you can use for extra features in game. Shadowfall for PS4 only is amazing. As for the games on either console BF4, assassins creed, COD ghosts, Forza 5 (xbox) all look just outstanding on my 55 inch telly. Whichever you get you won't be disappointed. I guess you just look and see which games you want as each have their own exclusive titles.
The frame rates are hugely different on BF4 on the older machines I heard. Eurogamer.net do some really in-depth analysis in their digital foundry articles.
Cod and Bf4 were built for older hardware and upscaled for PS4 and XB1, thats why they are poorly optimised, buggy and not quite as good looking as they could be. Look at Forza 5 and Killzone for an impression of what is to come on next gen. Im absolutely blown away by Forza, it just gets better and better! The physics are amazing, the sounds incredible and the sensation of speed is staggering.
BF4 is currently d/l as i type.:smile: For PC. Shooters are for PC for me. I can't use those controllers for anything other than racing games unfortunately. No matter how hard I try to learn I just can't get the hang of the damn things. :frown: BF4 better be bloody good....
PSN+ is far better value than XBL. I've had xboxes and playstations, but have gone ps4 this generation. It is a good bit of kit
