An R is an R Ive had mine 3 years now believe me if you haven`t ridden one they are a full blown beast M&S in Newcastle have had one in a while now I think its up for around 14k I was talking to a guy at Donnington who had a 1098r and had put a deposit down on a Panegale he cancelled his order after a ride on a demo bike ,says it all As Glen on here once said "theres something about riding a bike thatl will have ya" Bradders if we meet up on a trackday you can have a run on mine
Down to £12k. I don't mind a few miles, but this is too many and it's been used in all weathers. I've looked at that bike a few times in the shop. It's been there a while. Here
do you not fancy a beautifull panigale s ,,,I only live about 5 miles from you ,my mates seen your bike and says its mint,
So I reckon you'll get 5k for yours, so at 12k its 7k c2c...and its an R. Simple really. You either want an R, and pay the premium, or you don't and but an S or, hell lets say it, a Panigale.
Not many of them 1198R corse editions about very nice. Agreed with Nelson fuck trading in.Sell the nice stuff on fleabay and sell bike privately then go looking for a nice 1098R.With all the money you save you can go mad and buy the cams and stacks too or full akrapovic evo system hhmmmm.I must admit id like to own one with that spec.
Sorry Jim, they just haven't grown on me. I was thinking about them a while back, but I'd rather put the money into a 'R' now.
Not surprising- it is a 1098R with a paint job (and the ally tank), sold too late with a silly price tag.
I went from a 999R to my 1098R (track) weapon. I've got to be honest, I was shit scared of it at first and rode it like a right fanny (still do according to some). Its got the DP cams, bigger bellmouths, 70mm system and ecu. I had it dynoed at 190.3 rwbhp. Its a proper fucking weapon and no mistake. I'm recently back from Almeria and was holding off the mighty S1000RR's on that long straight. If you get on the gas quick enough there is no stock superbike that will do you. It will defo loop you in the first three gears if you're a bit ham fisted with it. I absolutey love it now and there's nothing out there (stock) I'd rather have. Get one, they're fucking magic!
Experiencing the same thing going from my 999R to the RC8R TRACK. And I must be 15 BHP down on your 1098.
Its been there since early 2010 when it was up for 18k. I nearly went for it, but got a great deal on a new Bayliss from them instead. Its a good enough example for the money, and if I was looking for another one I would take their hand off for that new price. Shop are selling it for the owner so maybe still a bit of negotiation possible ;-) Stop sitting on the fence, get yer cheque book out and find out what Rs are all about.
Thread has been open 3 days. I'd call that indecisive  In 1996 I saw the first 748sp I wanted, on the day before going on a 5 day driving hol to Paris with the missus. I left Paris and headed home on day 3 to make sure I didnt miss my chance. Wasn't very popular, but I got the bike and have been in love with Ducatis ever since.
Just separated a few months ago. Bike lover too, so no grief from that decision. For "no" read minimal.
Dont think I have ever seen an 1198 SP in the flesh. Prince Williams may be up for grabs as he seems to have a keen eye on the 1199 SL. Would be worth buying just to sniff the pillion seat
