Had a surprisingly good day at work. Annual review this morning - management were happy with how I've done, and I am now happy My efforts over the last year have not gone unnoticed. Then had our office secret santa - was delighted to receive a copy of Ian Falloon's "The Ducati Story" (especially given that the budget was supposed to be £10 and the back of the book says RRP £30)! I was really touched that one of my colleagues (and I think I know who) had gone to the trouble to find something that they thought would appeal to me, rather than the usual cop-out chocs/booze/bath smellies!
Took a call from my sister in law earlier this evening. My brother was mugged in the early hours of yesterday morning in Rotterdam (walking back to his apartment after a works Xmas party) and he's in hospital with two broken arms, broken wrist, several broken ribs and a fractured skull. I've since spoken to him personally and he sounded remarkably good under the circumstances. He was waiting on another CatScan this evening and until they double check him out they won't let him leave hospital to come home for Xmas. Seems like he was attacked by two chancers just wanting money, as they didn't take his watch or mobile. Bastards.
