1098s to 1098r, how much?

  1. How many miles have you done? I fail to see the point of any bike if that is all you are doing a year. I know I am a bit of a serial polisher but you do need to get on and ride sometimes. Each to their own.

    Regards Steve

  2. I have a few bike Steve and a busy life. But thanks for your words of wisdom

  3. Ive only ever seen a red 1198SP. I prefer the 1198S Corse though for looks. I had to google the black 1198SP and had I seen one before I might be on one now. Its very nice.

But apart from the alu tank, what has the sp got that my 1198 hasnt? ive DTC and DQS. Just out of interest like. Not bothered about the standard ohlins they come with. Doubt I'd be able to notice difference. I'm not skilled enough.

Does the R have better spec ohlins than the S and SP?

  4. It may have a TTX rear shock, but deffo has the 'normal' Ohlins front forks. Hmm... 1098R, I did some reading, would deffo have one for 12k, not sure about 14+

  5. Don't forget the 1 piece Carbon (@£3K + Vat) single seat unit, some extra BHP and proper R styling.

  6. All I know is that my black SP has DTC, slipper clutch, Ohlins and a quick shifter. Enough for me to go nuts on.
And Prince William has one !
There must be another 18 in the country according to Moto Italia. How many red ?

  7. Was reading an article in Performance Bikes only this morning on how to turn a 1098S into a 1098R beater. Feb 2013 edition.

  8. Still wont be an R

  9. and does it matter.

  10. Seems to, with reflection of used prices between them.

  11. It does if you want an R.

  12. Which I do. I'd either keep the 'S' the way it is, or sell to buy an 'R'. Modifying the 'S' to get 'R' levels of performance isn't on my radar as it'll never be an 'R'. Just persoanl choice.
