Just looking to see some pics get some opinions on what people are running before I make an investment ?
I have one on my 916 and as Phill says its less of a pain. But mainly because it looks better. I'd like one for my 1198 but cant decide which one.
I've got one of those except its got Harris Performance etched into it. 1/4 turn bayonet type Q/D cap is better than the course thread 'screw-in' cap imho. Works well. Yamaha and Ducati are same fixing but slightly thicker rubber seal.
I've got the screw on Ducati one There Ok a lot more convenient I reckon but hardly a must have & I got it mainly for looks I think I have a natural alloy i.e. silver version of the above cap too, been on the bike once. If anybody wants it its will be cheap (thinks maybe a £10 if like new less if its got marks) I bought mine before I seen the cheap Chinese version that Bootsam just put up. I think cheep chineese copee rooky velly much nicer than gen-You-ine Doo-Kat-eee pat John
I have to have one! Can't work out how's I've managed til now without one. I mean who can be expected to have to put a key in the fuel cap turn it in order to put fuel in! And there's no risk of dropping it on the floor or leaving it on the pump. Right where are they! Lead me to the most expensive one you have. If it has Ducati written in it, I'm happy to pay more.
I know where there is one for free. Somewhere between Jct21 & 22 on the M62. My mate complained his tank wasn't breathing on his 1098 so he loosened it a little. He rode home on a molatov cocktail as he had a rag under the seat.
Some fuel tanks need aftermarket caps I guess but got this goodridge alloy cap for free when I purchased tank .Got a DP one on the standard tank also that came with bike when I purchased it.If your feeling flush buy the titanium one from NCR but lots of very nice cheaper alternatives about. Think id invest in other bike stuff first though if not needed.
I was going to get one of these until I figured out the practicalities (or lack of) of these on a road bike... The cap detaches, so you need to put it somewhere = potential to drop it, forget it, scratch the tank etc. Also as you don't need a key to open it, it means it's not secure but more importantly there's the chance of leaving the keys in the ignition by mistake while I'm inside paying. I use pay at pump whenever I can, but it's not always possible.. Also, folk can mess with it or steal the cap when you're parked up. Overall, I decided not bother to as there's no real benefit and a few potential hassles. Andy
+1 I also fitted one for the No Budget cup to use with the quick filler that I got from Flat out racing... Because the filling hole was off set to the hole in the tank the quick filler wouldn't fit ( not matter how much we filed it)... So stayed with stock cap ever since... Bob
