..ok..this questioned has probably been asked already... I have treated myself (well it is the time of year!) to a new set of slash style termi's + ECU + Air filter for my 848 EVO 2011.:wink::wink: Part No. DUC96459910B. I thought /understood the ECU was a 'plug&play' system but the dealer(onyerbike) is telling me I will have to take the bike to have the Throttle Position Sensor re-programmed as it will run rich, is this right? I will be receiving them on Monday next, any info/fitment tips is most appreciated from you technical fellows. I will post pictures of the fitment when completed. Cheers Vince.
Yep, they are correct. you fit the silencers, air filter and ECU. They need to reset the TPS for you. My dealer did it for free for me as I bought the Termi kit from him. Oh, and tips. careful with the ECU. there ae a lot of pins in those connectors and you dont want to bend any. Nake sure it's all lined up before pushing it home. Any resistance,,,,,,STOP.
I got my local dealer to do it. They charged me £110. That was to remove old cans, ecu, etc and replace with termi cans and ecu that I supplied, then set the bike up and take it for a test ride. In my opinion it's a small price to pay as even if you can fit the cans yourself, you can't set the bike up so easily and the consequences of it not being set up right are incorrect fueling, poorer performance, lumpy running and potential engine damage.
....thanks for your replies, I will fit the cans and filter. Can I ride the bike to the dealers (10 miles) with the original ECU fitted then swop for new ECU before they set the TPS? To be honest I would love for it to be done all in my garage, taking my bike out this time of year is not what I want especially as its SORN and not insured!! Any ideas most appreciated. vj
vj60, someone will be along shortly (ChrisW ?) to advise you what you need cable and software wise to reset the TPS, Then you can do all of this without visiting the dealers and without paying them. (Also a hell of a lot cheaper than getting caught uninsured or taxed) I am sure if you search this subject will probably have been covered. BTW they will sound great
fit everything yourself including the cpu………when you next ride it which as you had sorned it i guess will be next year,(taxed and insured) get the tps reset at where ever….. fitting the cpu to run it up before you ride it won't harm it...
+1 on what Andy says. Fit the exhausts, filter and ECU. Riding it to your dealer to have the TPS reset will do no harm at all. Get the TPS reset next year when you are going to ride it again.
Thanks everyone. Maccaa who's ChrisW? Are you suggesting I can do this by purchasing a couple of cables linked I suppose to my laptop and guess a software programme? My dealer will sort it for £30 which is great but Ive got a problem getting the bike to them as stated. Can't wait to get them on the bike! vj
Hi Bootsam In the abscence of Chris W, resident ecu guru and ofcourse 'Dave'!....anychance I can get more info on doing this, I've followed the links but there seems a lot of different cables on offer and the software? Cheers vj
