  1. any info on these appreciated ,what they like , power etc, handling, reliability, low speed manners through towns etc, how will it compare to a panigale s ,cheers

  2. Its an R. It will be a pain in the ass for 80% of the time but the 20% where its not will be the best days of your life. Like most Ducati's.

  5. Ferkin gorgeous though. Your only young once , lifes for the living , blah blah.

  6. its the beast of beasts... nothing has given more explosive pull out of corners... it has the DTC2 version that it really needs. it will eat panigale S's for breakfast in pick up... but : in stock trim , they are heavier and more cumbersome to move from side to side.. the do not handle so lightly nor sweetly.... this said it has none of the twithchyness of the Pani. Once its in the corner, you can smoke a fag... like on rails... to go tracking : steepen the front angle to 30° and it will pick up in handling...

It's more of an R than the 1199R .. some say the last 'true R' ... for the Pani that would now be the SL...

  8. nik ... THE reason i don't want one... :)

  9. So stick some different fairings on and leave the Bayliss ones in a box. Whats not to like.

  10. true... but then there we go again... and end up sinking too much money in it.. :)

  11. I may be slightly biased but "Oh Yes"
Having owned and sold other Rs and regretted it later, I will keep this one forever.
To illustrate, I moved to work in Denmark but choose to live in Sweden with 150km daily commute, as the import tax
for my Bayliss was more than its now worth in the UK. Its a little bit of a love affair:smile:

  12. Buy the Bayliss because you like the paint scheme. Otherwise it's just an R with a slightly revised Ecu and subtle differences on the exhaust.

  13. Hmmmm.. Got me thinking there mate.. Bayliss is more desirable too (scarcer and should retain value better) with newer than the base R.. Just need, carbon fairings, some decals and £££££££...

  14. ...and a used tank

  15. What can I say ? It's a complete beast. It's not great in town as it has a heavy clutch and gets hot (the Termignoni exhausts help though and it's probably no hotter than a Pani). Compared to the Panigale, it's a little slow to steer but when it's in a turn, it is absolutely 100% rock steady. It's very high geared so at slow speed you need to slip the clutch a lot and unless it's doing at least 90 MPH it isn't very happy. Again, in town, it's more uncomfortable than the Panigale. It has high footrests and it's a stretch to the bars which means an awful lot of weight on the wrists.

However, on the open road on a Sunday blast or on a track day, it's sublime. There really is nothing like it and the stock Panigale R doesn't even come close. The thing is so stable, really, I can't describe it, at speed it does exactly what you want it to do with total, utter and complete stability. The low down torque will rip your arms out of their sockets !

This bike rocks, it's stunningly built and the finish is a masterpiece. It is, though, what it is - a hard charging, full fat race replica so don't expect a nod and a wink to comfort because that's not what's it built for. Ride it and you'll never forget it and for sheer pride of ownership and the tingling sensation it'll give you just thinking about it, it really is priceless.

  16. All I say is its sublimely Awesome. Never ridden anything better tbh. After nearly 6 years of ownership, it gives me a grin from ear to ear every time. I have the original Red fairings, the Bayliss is nice, but red is great.

As said an R will always be an R. ;0)

  17. I've had two, managed to write the first one off, when I had the insurance cheque burning a hole in my pocket the Pani had just come out so I could have had one of those instead, but to be honest the thought never crossed my mind!!

The power/torque is awesome, it handles sweet & I love the colour scheme!!

I've never had any mechanical issues with either bike I've owned, they can be hard work in town, but a 14 tooth front sprocket helps!!

I intend to keep this one forever, as long as I don't come across any dosy car drivers that turn across me without indication!!

  18. So I guess there pretty good then , got a deposit on one , got some good and bad feedback off the local dealer when I told him, that's why I had slight doubts ,they do seem to have a bit of grunt like  ,can you lighten clutch action with is it oberon slave cylinder like on other dukes etc, ? its already geared 14t front, thought last night like someone said your only young once ,

  19. How much you riding in town? I wonder how unrideable a 14t front may make it given all that torq

  20. not much in town Bradders its just half your ride out is going through villages etc or stuck in traffic when we knock it off, when told it had a 14t front ,first thing I said was I want the original 15t back on ,but talking to a few in the local ducati dealer and a few pm.s they've said it makes it rev higher for said gearing which takes it up the rev range a bit for a bit more smooth ness,
