Where do the 1199's go in the winter?

  1. Can't help noticing almost all the posts at the mo are 899 Panigale owners
Are we just overcome with the excitement of our new bikes and the novelty will wear off or are those 1199's just a bit too much when the roads get slimy and wet!

Ive never ridden one of those monsters.
Anybody using anything other than stock tyres?

  2. My 1098S gets tucked up in my garage keeping my other bikes company.Roll on the spring.

  3. you can see one today in London if you want as i am going christmas shopping

  4. You ain't buying big stuff then. Ho Ho Ho.

  5. no mate, house is too small to buy big stuff!!! gotta stick to jewellery...

  6. You going to smash and grab then? Will we be seeing you on the news tonight?

  7. yeah, mate . it will be smash and grab of conntents of my wallet by shop owner.

  8. Mine is definitely a good weather bike. Tucked up in the garage, with only me to talk to. April cannot come soon enough.

  9. Mine is definitely for dry weather use, if I had no alternative I would ride it.

  10. just sitting at work, doing f..k all. had to roll the bike in as some sort of hurricane outside, i thought that the bike will get blown off.
not sure how the fuck am i suppose to ride home tonight unless weather will improve

  11. It's like riding any other day isn't itvYev? Once you know which way the winds blowing just position the bike accordingly. Watch it on over passes where the wind get bad though, parp lol,
Unless there's snow or ice on the roads I don't even worry what else is going on.

  12. mate, it was a scary ride home tonight... i suppose i could have used wet mode, but i forgot

  13. Well, mine gets ridden in all weathers, all through winter etc. But now it's broken again so is back at the dealers..... not sure what that tells you!

  14. Broken again. I don't like the sound of that, I thought Ducati's were ok nowadays. What goes wrong with them?
    only just bought mine:eek:

  15. Ride by wire throttle failure. I shut the gas, bike decided otherwise and gave gas. I stopped riding it pretty quickly thereafter!

  16. Sounds like VOSA should be informed. Could kill somebody with a fault like that. Sounds like a recall required.

  17. **Ride by wire throttle failure. I shut the gas, bike decided otherwise and gave gas. I stopped riding it pretty quickly thereafter!**

    Yep. RECALL RECALL RECALL.
Knew a racing sidecar passenger that was killed due to a faulty throttle. All got banned there after as a whole bunch in the paddock were close to causing the same failure.
Long and short of this was the stop in the throttle wore, so shutting the throttle went past no throttle, and started opening it again. Sadly the rider a good friend obviously tried closing the throttle more compounding the issue.
Report it to VOSA and feel good about yourself for doing it.

  18. Well mine's in its Carcoon Bike Bubble.

Winter is for lovely muddy, slippery off-road riding on the Husaberg and 690R Enduro :)

  19. Open throttle. I remember the 748/996 type bikes with foam filters, getting sucked into the bellmouths and jamming the butterflies open.
