  5. just had a read of this. i was concerned about using a wire brush on the pipes and leaving marks on it. will i be ok to go to town on it with my dremel and the fine wire tip?

  6. Yeah you can go hard on them. I didn't want to be too aggressive either so I've been left with the marks from the bending process (as pointed out). Ultimately the wire brush should just take off the surface tarnish then you're using grades of polish anyway to get the finish. You'll be fine with a dremel....ideally you'll use a bench grinder with the brush/pad attached to that which is going to be quicker.

Or just sent it to Arthur who'll do a proper job for you! I think mine might end up with him at some point

  7. iv got the polishing pads with varying grades of compound for my drill and a bench clamp so that part will be quick ill just have to take my time with the dremel. did you use the gold wire ones or silver. not to sure what they are made of im guess the gold may be brass??

  8. Yes. I clamped a drill in a vice then put the pipe on the pad rather than handle the drill.......just do it up tight!

I had the silver wire for the dremel. Its really only to go around the spring hooks and inside where you cant reach with the larger wheel. You'll be surprised how well it comes up with just the wire. You're not going to do anything irretrievable on the pipes with one of those dont worry.

  9. I noticed the other day when we went out and the roads were wet and muddy, that the exhaust looks already like the bike has done about 5k miles! I have only ridden it in the wet twice and cleaned it both times really carefully.

I may need to do this soon so thanks, although I am not going to fully polish mine I don't think. I may well need to change my hugger to one that actually does something if I keep riding in the wet, my DP Carbon one is useless.

  10. That's actually a really smart bit of kit! I like the profile of it a lot.... will look in to it (as well as the taller screen) as I need to start riding my bike more in all weathers which means being less precious.

  11. Its bigger than the DP one and is a more conventional shape so its not all lopsided. I looked into the 'long' ones but they were just too big. I found Conquest did the shorter one in gloss and they made one for me in matte......got to stick with the matte paint

It seems to have been pretty popular and they are always in stock.....I think they still do a gloss one if that's a preference.

You'll need to buy some 5m bolts too........I got some allen bolt, round headed ones from Ebay like these. 5m x 15 or 20mm....cant remember which.

  12. Im not a fan of polished exhausts.
I think it makes the pipework look heavy and old.
So i went the other way with mine.
I had it blasted with high intensity glass powder.
    It looks amazing

  14. Oooooh! Looks nice......How does that wear?

  15. Very well indeed. The powder is like glass talcum. So fine is it. It makes the surface totally satin-like and free of any surface imperfections / micro scratches
