I think some of u must work where I do! The favs are 'touch base' and 'lets be realistic' - ironically only used when something utterly absurd is being suggested! Let's look inwards on ourselves....
A bit off topic but seeing as a lot of these phrases are about "managment-eez" An A-Z of modern office jargon | Money | The Guardian All of them guaranteed to get your back up except the last one, guaranteed to get your bosses back up John
MOVING FORWARD is by far my biggest wind up as it appeared a couple of years ago (obviously in the PR/Presentation skills circuit) and spread like a virus. People use it to come across as "intelligent" instead of just saying; we've made mistakes and will learn from them, next month/year, in the future...etc. When a politician says it (all the time!) it translates to; "I don't want to talk about my mistakes, I am going to talk about what I say I am going to do in the future, but will be in a different Ministry before I can be challenged on it" I also used to play Bullshit Bingo when we had Worldwide gatherings and there were a few Septics who made the hours of presentations pass by with schoolboy giggles and outbursts.....Bullshit Bingo [Random!] It really does make you concentrate and show great attention that your boss will be impressed with.
It'll be in the last place you look for it…. Yes. Yes it will. I don't tend to continue looking for an item once I have found it.
Some of my lot repeat this up to 6 times in one info release……….generally backed up with not looking back…………….until a dinosaur like me states that the besets newest new fangled way was done like that in 1992 previously……...
