new dash for 748/TLR project?

  1. Not sure if this is in the right place if it’s not I’m sure one of the mods will move it.
I’m looking for a new dash to go on my Ducati/TLR project, I’ve done some research and found some I like and don’t like but wanted to know if anybody has any experience with any of these aftermarket dashes and what they thought of them?

The ones i have found are:

Translogic, I’m swaying towards this one but I’m a bit disappointed with the lack of any data logging this has.

Motogadget, not sure of the build quality but I do like the G meter.

HM, nice but this is pushing my budget at £666

Vapour and koso, don’t like the look of these at all.

If anybody knows of any more that are worth a look at please say.

  2. I'm looking at an Acewell dash as an option for my project, they do quite a few versions and seem pretty good value for money.

If money were no object i would be looking at a HM...

Nelson on here has a 1098 dash on one of his projects, maybe worth a look?

  3. I presume you are putting the tl lump in the duc frame. How far have you got?

  4. keith, yes and its almost done. i took it up the road for the first time last weekend, only in 1st and 2nd gear but all seem good.

  5. I've got 2 Translogic dashes, they work well, easy to setup and look good. I don't need data logging but they do have lap timers.

  6. Cool, how were the engine mountings?Which lined up,bodged ,zip tied etc?

  7. Although it is mainly going to be a track bike I don’t need data logging, but it would be interesting to have.

It seem with the budget I have it has to be either a road bias dash such as the translogic, that does look very cool or something like the AIM that is more of a data logger and does not have a speedo.

Has anybody any experience with the AIM logger?

Keith, the mountings took a bit of messing around but i got there in the end, the chain alignment is spot on. The only niggle is that the engine sits about 10mm to low. but no need for cable ties, a bit of blue tack and sticky back plastic is in there though.

  8. You could try a standalone data logger, have you looked at these people? PZRacing – Electronic Racing Components | PZRacing – Innovation, Technology & Design!!! They do make a Ducati specific model for the 1098 style bikes.

I use their Youcam setup which provides Video and also speed sensing via GPS, lap times and comparisons, gear position, throttle position from 0-100%, G meter for acceleration and braking, also a bar graph for acceleration\deceleration and a rev counter. This model has no been overtaken by some newer compact models so there are a few of these kits out there going relatively cheaply. It uses an SD card to record video(not HD) \data which you can play back on your PC using windows media player or similar.

I use it on the road for testing and also on track. Here's a Youtube clip. It records in MPH or KPH and has dozens of other programmable parameters.

  12. I was looking at the dash2, it’s probably the best one out there if you get all the extras with it like the DL1 data logger, vido4 etc but it gets very expensive. The DL1 is over £500 plus all the sensors.

Maybe next month I will get it but for now I had a change of heart and bought this

  13. Are there any that work with CANBUS on 749/999 other than the Digitek Falcon?

  14. you could ditch the 999 loom and go 1098 1198 loom ecu and dash……might be a cheaper option plus

don't need a ignition key………..opens up the door for dtc with a bit more work ready for a 1098/1198 engine when you are too…..

  15. The key is coded to the dash though.

  16. I'm planning on a remap any way so the immobiliser would be turned off.

  17. exactly……..the 1198 999 748 all have the same white block connector for the ignition remove the ignition and two wires with a switch jobs a good un….

  18. Yeah but, no but.... Are you talking about no key using the 1098 loom & dash?
On the 848 -1198 bikes the code is key to dash not ecu. Remapping will re code the ecu not the dash.
    No key no start!

    I'm going for a snooze...
