  1. Dear All...

Anyone know the correct procedure for changing the front sprocket on a 796 hyper pls...?

A thread or advice would be great ... Many thanks and have a great Ducatisti new year...

  2. First, remove the sprocket cover and take a look. I don't know the 796, but the sprocket will be held on either by a couple of small bolts (happy days) or a big nut (which will be done up fookin' tight, to undo it you'll need to put the bike in gear and apply the rear brake while putting some muscle into a breaker bar). Now slacken off the chain as much as possible. If you're lucky there will be enough room to wiggle the sprocket out under the chain. If not you'll have to split the chain. If you've not split and riveted a chain before you'd do well to invest in a decent chain splitter/riveter, but try to wiggle the sprocket out first, if it comes out okay the smaller replacement sprocket will go in easier. Then it's just a case of tightening the sprocket, replacing the cover, and tensioning the chain in the normal way.

  7. I have a bit of a problem, lads.
My eccentric is stuck solid. No manner of twisting, hammering, etc will free it.
I tried putting on the 14t front sprocket..had to disassemble almost the complete left side as the front sprocket just wouldn't come off the chain! Eventually, after it went on, I couldn't adjust the chain, due to the above..
Gave up and put the old 15t back.
Have (and how, if at all) any of you dealt with a stuck eccentric adjuster?
